I've recently started out with Warhammer, LOVE IT! Dwarfs was my first and only choice because they are so cool!
I have started out my army like this:
1x Thane ( BSB )
1x Organ gun
1x Grudge Thrower
I would love some tips of what do buy next or how to build up my army that I already have. I will mostly play against my friends, they have Wood elves, Bretonnia, WOC, O&G, Tomb Kings & Ogre Kingdoms. We will play battles with 1500-2500points.
Thank you in advance!
Sry! Posted in the wrong section.
i would say its pretty solid but i would take an anvil of doom in my opinion it is what makes dwarfs competitive. I usually use the special character because he does ancient runes on a 3+ and gets to reroll if he fails. other then that I would drop the miners and maybe add another stone thrower or maybe another runesmith to help you shut down the magic phase even more. Another things what runes are you planning on putting on your cannons and characters?
If you take the Anvil then miners are able to charge on turn 1, they can be very useful
Id also try to add some of the tougher units like hammerers, ironbreakers or longbeards
Maybe also get a few more thunderers or quarrellers as you will be at a pretty big points cost with these additions lol
Stay away from Ironbreakers, they are simply not worth picking up. If you want an anvil unit you want dwarf warriors with hand weapon and shield, about 40 with full command in a game of 2000pts + for a solid anvil unit, can maybe get away with less, try 25-30 in games of 1500pts-2000pts.
You only need 1 anvil unit like that realisticaly, as anvil units wont win you a game. Every other warrior unit and unit in your list which can take great weapons, should b given great weapons. Thats Warriors, Hammerers(who already have them so dont give them shields), Longbeards, and Quarrelers. Shields on these units are not worth it, unless you upgrade the anvil unit of warriors to longbeards, but i think they are better with great weapons.
Hammerers are your friends. Get a unit.
Wouldnt get anymore Thunderers, i personaly prefer Quarellers. I take a unit of 20-24 with great weapons and field them in 2 ranks, then reform before i get charged. In bigger games i take a unit of 30. Thunderers i would take in units of 10 just for target prioritising.
Miners are good but i wouldnt get anymore. Dont be affraid to bring them on in horde formation if it means you can clip multiple warmachines when you come on.
Warmachines seem fine but could do with some runes, and just mention now that organ gun is a rare choice.
You want rune of accuracy, penetration, then either another rune of penetration or rune of bruning on your stone thrower so it has either (rerollable scatter, +2 Strength) or (rerollable scatter +1 strength, flaming magical attacks). Also get it an engineer so you can reroll your missfire result on the misfire table.
You dont need rune of burning on your stone thrower if you take a cannon with rune of burning on as it can do same job. i always forget which runes i take on cannons, think its run or reloading and burning, maybe rune of forging on them both.
Also get a Master Engineer and sit him with the Warmachines, best the grudgethrower as he will let you reroll the artilary dice aswell as scatter.
