Good evening .
I come asking advice, on how you deal with -horde- lists .
Not just greenskins and skaven, but also ranks of elves and men .
Thanks in advance .
Whittle them down with gun fire, Organ Guns do a decent job, then attack with a Horde of Dwarf Warriors with great weapons, you should be able to survive and kill a fair few in return
I have been told Grudge Throwers -especially with the Rune of Penetrating- are fairly efficient in dealing with large blocks of elves, men, skaven and even greenskins. Take with a grain (or a bucket) of salt, as I myself am still a rookie.
with a well placed shot a gt can take 21 (or more if it is a huge block and there is a scatter for 2")
and if you have runed your GT's with 2 penetrating and 1 accuracy, then it would kill nearly all of them (t3 most of them)
Thanks for your replies .
I figured the "gems" would be the organ gun, the bolt thrower, and the grudge thrower .
Now, what about the flame cannon ? Or, is it not useful in 8th ?
Grudge throwers; For massive number of hits on horde units, if you have rune accuracy you can try to snipe big monsters also
and Organ Gun; Aim for hits for Skirmishers, flank chargers, Big individual targets, then horde units.
Bolt throwers aren't usefull against hordes, you have to score a hit first, long range without engineer it is a 5+ hit. Then you have to wound with strength 6 first model, with each rank bolt's strength decreases, if you are able to hit, you are trying to damage 1 by 1 for each model. It will be a very lucky shot if you can kill more than 3 models.
Flame Cannon; It was discussed before but the range change, limits its potential. In 8th edition the combats start too early. and Flame cannon's range is between 10 to 18 inches, and it is expensive. If you can get a lucky hit, you might decimate a horde unit. however, the game, the way it is, does not let a couple of shots per game with flame cannon.
However recently i found a new use for flame cannon;
monstrous infantry are usually 40x40 bases with 3 wounds each. Since flame cannon does d3 wound per model hit. You might surprise your oponents such as ogre's or minataur heavy beastmen armies if you take 1. Otherwise i wouldn't suggest flame cannon.
