In a regualr dwarf army, 18 in 6x3 is all i need, only champion and no command.
thanks, this will help me with my regular dwarf army, but i meant with the slayer army list, srry if i wasnt clear.
For the slayer list, then I field them in 6x3, champion Standard, as the musician is completely useless, even if you loose the tiebreaker.
The slayer pirates are a must, my 9x2 formation can pulverise just about anything, from fast cav to heavy armoured chaos warriors! then having always pistols in combat is sick, and stand and shoot!
minimise the doomseekers if you want to be fair, 4-5 is the max I use, I'm even think to use only 3, as alot of players that haven't played them first cannot deal with them at all.
at 2000 I stick to dragon slayers, but a deamon slayer could be in order, just choose wisely.
Any more questions just ask, I've got plenty experience with them ^_^
thanks, that will help me with my slayers.
No problem ^_^
what armies would you recommend using slayers against?
Slayers are best against armies with good, tough, expensive foot troops and cav. Because they will never break, you will get the most out of your army if you can get them into combat on the second turn. The "Look Snorri, Trolls!" rule will help massively with that. Don't worry about being flanked, just get your troops into base to base contact as quickly as you can.
I've found that Slayers fare poorly against Empire, Orks and Goblins and Skaven. Armies that can load up on cheap shooters and still have tough foot troops are going to be your biggest problem. If an army can whittle down your slayers enough, they will simply kill all your Slayers in combat.
I've heard but not seen that slayers are amazing against ogre kingdoms.
Lastly, I would recommend avoiding the demonslayer and spending the points on more troops. You want to make sure that enough of them cross the board to finish what you started. Also, the Goblin Hewer is a great warmachine... however, I've found that effective slayer armies always leave it exposed when they surge forward. It's tough to keep it alive past turn 3 against a good opponent.
Hope that helps. Just watch out for the shooty-armies.
my first battle with slayers was against OK, and they were awesome, i got a strong victory easy, and i hadnt even read anything on slayers yet, it was a good fight.

I wouldn't be fair to play slayers only against certain armies, plus they can take on any type of army really, it just takes more playing experience with them.
