Hey I'm just wodering what hero you should use in a 1000pts game if the opponent has 5PD(lvl 2 wizard). Although Dwarves have 4DD I just reckon the opponent will just use all 5PD in his magic phrases on a very nasty spell. What do you think???
Also I reckon that having a Runesmith isn't all that bad. If your using KU's suggested 1000pts army list he posted in the 'Thinking about starting Dwarves' sticky then I reckon you should drop the 20HW/S Warriors for the runesmith and maybe even a RoCourage on a unit. That isn't that bad, with a lot of firepower at the back, you should go quite well.
What are your thoughts???

Okay, heres the dealie.
Your opponent, unless he has some Magic Item, has 4pd. 2 basic+2 for a Lvl2.
He can't use 5pd (even if he has them) on one spell. The maximum a Lvl2 can use is 3.
Lastly, I think you're fine with the same amount/one less dd than your opponent has pd. Magic really won't have that much of an impact. Then again, I normally take two heroes in 1000 points, so a runesmith might be on the cards anyway.

I agree with Revlid, the four basic DD in 1k is more than enough. With a level two caster that only two spells, meaning he can use a max of three on one spell and two on the other. Even on your four dice you stand a good chance of stopping them.
I'd stay with a thane at 1k, maybe in 1500 or 2000pts get a Runesmith.
