I'm new here (obviously) and I just wanted to get some opinions for using Rangers in battles of 1000 and 2000 points. Are they useless? Is there anything you can do with them? I can't find a forest in the opponents deployment zone (so you can't use them to stop opponent from marching unless you put them in a forest in the middle and hold the one of the opponents flanks from marching after turn 2). Otherwise: if you use them to"flank" then their scout ability is somehow NOT very useful and in the end they will just be warriors with light armor and GW, only they cost 12 each, not 9... So I jump to the conclusion that their forester ability is the only reason to use them. But aren't they too expensive for this? I mean, a unit of 10 warriors with GW is really slow in forests but it's just 2 ranks, if you move them correctly they will be able to charge a unit right next to the forest and "do their job". After all no dwarf unit moves quicker and getting a unit ahead quickly (using the rangers' scout ability) will just get you a unit of 10 dwarves that die easily in the middle of the battlefield. And if you want to save them you'll march and loose a turn of shooting. Any ideas about how to use them??? I just want to do so beacause they are the only "flexible" (lol) unit a dwarf general can use (beside Gyrocopter)...
