with all the scouts and miners and new banners, i thought an assaulting/mobile dwarf army would be not just cool but successful. i am a bretonnian player, and going from mobile to stationary is kinda hard so i thought id combine the two.
a dwarf army with some scouts, some miners, gyrocopters, slayers, Dogs of war calvery
I might be wrong but aren't the only scouts rangers who are 0-1
yes, the only scouts are rangers and they are 0-1, but you also have miners and a gyrocopter, also there is a rune that allows characters to join the units with special rules like scout and underground advancement, so i think it would have a shot, i built a mobile army list not too long ago based around this concept but i havent used it yet. i would say give it a shot and see if it works.
Beer, Pipes, and Guns... Dwarves had the right idea.
Josef Bugman allows you to take an extra unit of (Longbeard) rangers. Doesn't count towards your minimum number of core choices nor your maximum number of rangers.
Also, don't forget about Kislev as an allied contigent if you're looking for mobility. Never played them (or my Dwarves yet for that matter) but they're a way to add in some cavalry without using up rare slots.
the slayer army is the most mobile list out there. with those 2D6 and the strolaz rune standard, you can start the game awful close to your opponent!
the slayer list being the most mobile id have to dissagree here. with an anvil a dwarf army is in my opinion alot faster. and if you taker a strollaz rune you can have a potential 18" first move with 1-3 units and then have the added speed from the anvil in later turns. it has also been confirmed that you may not use both the strollaz rune and 2d6 move by GW its one or the other.

I am pretty sure that you can only have 1 unit of rangers, unless you use Bugman.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Also, not many people play with rangers, neither do I, so I wouldn't recommend them.
rangers are dwarfs who start that much closer to the enemy.
two units of rangers (bugman) a unit or two of miners, gyrocopter or two, anvil of doom for movement, maybe dogs of war halflings (fighting c@cks) stone thrower, or bolt thrower, unit or two of crossbows.
the army can defend if necessarybut is mainly for advancing and catching the enemy in mid-plan.
While the slayers are pretty fast an army with 2 - 4 miners, 1 ranger, and 2 gyros is fastest. However, if you have an anvil you could be really fast. Unfortunately you can't use an anvil with a slayer list from Storm of Chaos.
Additionally Gav has come out and said you can't use the Stollaz rune with the Look Snorri Trolls rule. We had a big long discussion at Bugman's Brewery and Slayer Brotherhood on this very issue and Gav, who is a member of Bugman's Brewery posted a reply. So we will see when they release a FAQ/Rules Update online that you can't combine the two for the potential 18" movement.
Whos going to use this army anyway?Originally Posted by Thunderer
I still think that slayers are very flexible, and that rule would be a bit dodgy if it were allowed...
