Just another query as to what people think on a subject really, this time it concerns special characters.
In a recent thread there has been a small sub-debate if you like, about whether people are cool with fielding special characters without prior agreement. As i'm sure you are all aware some new kid at a gaming club has been fielding a rather unbalanced dwarf army, making the most out of Thorek Ironbrow and his anvil of doom.
For me the answer is quite simple. The rules cleary state that you can take a special character without prior agreement, and i think that most of the time they are not overpowered for their points (most characters are around 700-800pts i seem to find).
Whether Thorek ironbrow is overpowered, with a re-rollable 3+ ancient power on his anvil of doom for only 505 points, is open for debate (personally i think he is a bit too good), but i still wouldn't begrudge someone using him. Every race has its own way of dealing with such nasties.
I think people are often very quick to accuse an army of being 'cheese' simply because they can't find a way to beat it, and it's important to remember that every army can beat every army in this game (sure you can have good matchups and bad ones) which is what makes it such a fantastic hobby.
I was just wondering what other people thought really
I don't think that you need agreement for special characters...Originally Posted by stonehambey

Also you're right about cheese, you may be a great player and your friend is rubbish but they still accuse you of cheese!
