I can give my Thane Master Rune of Spite and 2xRune of Iron. Will the ward save stack to a 2+ ?
You could give him the two Runes, but Ward Saves in general do not stack.
The Master Rune of Spite would give the character a 4+ Ward.
The Rune of Iron is an exception to stacking Ward saves due to it's wording. The two Runes of Iron would give the character a 5+ Ward Save.
When your are wounded and fail your armour save, you'd have to choose between the Ward provided by the Master Rune of Spite and that provided by Runes of Iron.
The advantage of this setup is, that, if I recall correctly, the other Ward is provided by Armour Runes, while the other is provided by Talismanic Runes. An opponent wishing to destroy your Ward save would have to destroy both the Armour AND the Runic Talisman to take out both saves.
Use Light, Beasts, Metal instead of Heavens
NecroLords: Use at least one Death Mage
Brets: Use Peasants&Damsels
Skaven: Don't use Skryre SAD
You're probably correct here, though you're suggesting a 4+ then 5+ Ward Save... I don't think its allowed. It's quite a controversy.Originally Posted by Teron
Games Workshop rules contradict themselves alot. I believe that wardancers from the wood elves army even come with 2 different ward saves(one is just for mundane weapons I think). Although, as stated before, you can only even use 1 ward save at a time and they never stack(except for the rune of iron, but only with itself). There is a reference to having more than one ward save in the BRB but I don't know wich page it is on.
1 lasgun is a joke, 100 is no laughing matter.
You could take both ward saves but it would be pointless, there is very few things in the game available that can null effects of armour and its magical properties. This being said, they do exist. As to the wards, you always take the highest. So you would use the MRoSpite, effectively you are using up two armour slots for no reason.
But as said, no they do not stack. You use the higest ward save unless it is nulled - good example is the Wood Elf Wild Riders, they have a 'Forest Spirit' ward save but loose it due to magical attacks; and they also have the Talismanic Tattoos giving a normal wards save.
generally the rune of iron is quite redundant in the dwarf list. if any one wants a ward save just grab a master rune of spite. it saves you two armour slots and takes up one rather rarely used talisman slot. the only time i can see runes of iron being of any worth would be as a wee extra if you cant think to spend points on (and even then a waste.)

Not much can kill a Dwarf lord with 1+ AS and 4+ WS! Always take MroSpite.Originally Posted by Arklite
