I have just bought the following models and I was wondering if you had any ideas about what I could do with them. I haven't worked out any points or anything yet for the models and eventually I suppose that the army will reach 2000pts (once I by a few slayers and so forth).
Here is what I have so far :
1 Lord with great weapon
1 Lord with hammer and shield
40 Dwarf Warriors (24 from the Dwarf Battalion box + 16 from a Dwarf Warrior box)
16 Dwarf Thunders / Quarrellers
2 Cannons / Organ Guns
1 Malakai Makaissons Goblin Hewer
Probably 1 Grudge Thrower (depends how my bid goes on ebay )
I don't have to use all the above war machines in every battle but at least this gives me the choice to mix and match.
As I said earlier I'll definately get about 10 Slayers (including Slayer Lord and Slayer Command) as I think that they are just too cool but can anyone think of anything else that I might need to make a half decent 2000pt Dwarf Army?
All the best
Firstly, decide whether you want a lord with shield (extra armour save) or great weapon (stronger in combat, but strikes last and cannot have runes without MroKragg The Grim. Personally I'd say shield  .Originally Posted by Scotia_uk
40 is a bit of an awkward number, you'll want 16 warriors with shield, 16 with great weapon and 16 longbeards, they're great.
It's a matter of personal choice but a while ago I posted a thread and people preferred thunderers over quarrellers with the +1 to hit and extra -AS.
Build 1 cannon + 1 organ gun.
Gyrocopters great for securing those skirmishers. Just when you build it you'll find an extra bit which doesn't seem to go anywhere. This is the boiler.
Goblin Hewer and slayers are a good choice .
I do not like grudge throwers myself but I know other people do!
And in a 2000pt battle you'll want some elites, I'd say ironbreakers (extra tough) or you could put your lord into a small unit of hammerers with their special lord rules.
Could you please tell us what armies you'll be playing so we can decide what the best sort of things are to use against your enemy?
Hi Cairocopter. Thanks for the reply.
I'm going to buy another Dwarf Warriors box which will give me 56 in total (too many maybe?). I'll have 24 Dwarf Warriors with weapon and shield, 16 Dwarf Warriors with great weapons and 16 Longbeards with great weapons.
I'll build one cannon and one organ gun and once I've saved some more money I'll probably get 6 Slayers with 1 Slayer Lord and the 3 figure command squad and around 20 Ironbreakers with full command squad. I've not worked out the points yet for all this stuff so I've no idea if it can all be contained in a 2000 point army.
Going back to the 24 Dwarf Warriors with weapon and shield, do you think there is any advantage in breaking this regiment into two 12 figure units and having one Dwarf Warriors with weapon and shields and the other 12 Dwarf Rangers?
Who will I be playing against? That is a very good question and to tell you the truth I have no idea. I have only taken this hobby up about a month ago and none of my mates are into it. My local GW shop runs a "Veterans" night on a tuesday night and I've been invited along to meet fellow gamers but I've no idea what armies they are playing apart from one of the GW staff who plays Tomb Kings.
All the best
your definatly on the right track, slayers and Ironbreakers should be your next purchases!
if you add units of these you will have a similar list to my current army (although i dont have a gyrocopter) i am looking to get myself a unit of Miners next because the models are great

That's what I meant, but its pointless buying a two handed weapon which doesn't have the benefits of one when you put runes on it!Originally Posted by Marvus
actually it does not even count as two handed, it reverts all the way back to a hand weapon.A great weapon can have runes but counts as a magical weapon without the +2 strength and striking last, unless you give it the MroKragg The Grim rune. So basically it's a two-handed ordinary weapon. Looks cool though!!!

Hey, if you get White Dwarf Magazines, there an article in a more recent one for interchangable barrels for your cannon/organ gun. Ill see if I can dig up what issue it is, but I would personally hold off purchasing two cannon sets 4 now.
It's the March 2006 issue.
3500 points Blood Pact
1000 points Deathwatch
3000 points Dwarfs
Thanks a lot! Bit late to get that issue now though.Originally Posted by Captain Stormy
