After not having much luck with the sticky threads i decided to post here.
I really like the MRoV, and i love the idea of fielding it in my army. Trouble is when i stick it on my BSB and give him some runes of protection he becomes wildy expensive.
Does anyone have any cool character setups with this rune? So far i've come up with
Thane - BSB, MRoV, MRoGromril, RoResistance, RoCleaving (for fun)
Can anyone help me out? I'm really looking for ways to field this rune rather than questioning it's effectiveness more than anything
If you give a caracter a runice banner, he cannot have any other runic items.
A fellow gamers fields a very elite and aggressive dwarf list, and fields a BSB with the MRoValaya and Strollaz's rune. how does he keep in safe ? he simply puts him in a hammerer unit with is lord. If you want some victory points, you gotta go after that unit.
 I don't know all the names. But:
The rune of guarding? gives a ward save, cute on an expensive BSB. Its hard to argue with Strollaz's rune if you are playing a marchy army, and hard to argue for it if you aren't. If you are going to put him in a unit as Wolf_Pack says, you might as well stick on a war-banner equivalent and make the unit 1 point better in CR. If you go with the hammerers, you could also consider the banner that lets them test on a single d6, just in case something nasty came up to try and take the large number of VP the unit would represent.
Also remember if you are in a unit, you can also have a unit standard to add more banner runes, particularly combos of master runes which are normally illegal. I'm awfully fond of longbeards with the anti-shooting banner. They protect against panic, they protect against shooting (with the banner), and with the BSB they'd protect against magic also! awesome defensive unit, but probably wants a fighting character for combat.
Honestly, I don't think much of the runic banners in general. They sound awfully nice, but a lot of them are only useful against certain threats or certain circumstances (or one use only). I'd usually rather have more dwarves and a fighter BSB, but that is just personal preference.

In my guides, I say that I would hide him in the backs of a big unit. There is really just nothing else as good to do.
Instead of Valaya I would prefer a few Runesmiths with some RoSpellbreaking, because of this problem , they are also good in CC.

Ah yeah thanks. I think i got confused with taking BSB bare and the runic items.Originally Posted by Wolf_Pack
Ah well even more reason not to field it i guess. But i'm still gonna experiment with it a bit first^_^
