ok i have 2 questions...
1) if i have a unit of warriors and 1 unit of rangers, can i upgrade the rangers to longbeards? or the other way around? it says the rangers are upgraded from warriors or longbeards so im not sure...
2) ok then, im looking at my models and im seing a crossbow... it doesnt say in the book that they can use a crossbow but someone at gamesworkshop said they could but im not seeing it... can anyone clarify this?
If you read the paragraph on Rangers in the Dwarf Army book ( page 53 ) it answers both your questions. In reply to your second question though, I have tried rangers with crossbows a couple of times without success as they are usually set up too close to get more than one shot. Most units are level with them on turn one so they don't have line of sight. Crossbows are a lot more effective at the back of your battle line where their 30 inch range means you get to fire off a couple of volleys before close combat
im not seeing in the book (page 53) where it says they can have crossbows. but thanks for the help, and ill see what i can think of for strat for them. thanks guys.
Yeah It says you use Quarrellers ( crossbowmen ) and then upgrade them to rangers +1 point per model.
Just don't do what i did-take throwing axes against orcs and gobbos.
i forgot that hate greenskins makes you carge if you can- that was i forgot until the game started:wacko: .
The axes have 6" range and coincidently thats also our charge range .
