I just sent in an idea of mine to the Hobby Service Team. This is what it said. Make odf it waht you will:
Hey, for you next Global Campaign (Warhammer), how about having Grungni and Valaya incarnate, just like Valten with Sigmar?
Just an idea, could you please let me know what you think of it? Because that's something I'd really like to see.
I await a reply, hopefully next Campaign (or sooner) Grungni and Valaya will return to us!
Although I really like the idea, I just don't see Dwarves every being the focus of a global campaign. GW will always focus a global campaign around whatever releases are out at the time. With Storm of Chaos it was to fuel the new Chaos Warriors, Hellcannon, and various empire units. For Lustia it was to try to bring some new Skaven and Lizardmen.
It usually backfires as people pretty much use what they got and it works for them. Unfortunately if Dwarves were to be the focus it would be against Orcs which was already in use with the new boxed set, and even where i play not many people play Dwarves and have already moved away from Orcs not liking the taste of the army.
While i personally think it would be wonderful idea and be a great way for me to get more games in with my dwarves I don't see GW allowing us to face down hordes of people with lines of cannons and dwarf warriors again unless they really push some new minatures... man it would be nice for a all plastic slayer unit.
40K-Beakies(9-14-4),Guard(4-7-2),Orks(34-12-11). FANTASY-Dwarves(15-6-7),Beasts (14-14-1), Skaven (17-17-10) DoC (6-1-2). CYGNAR (28-15-1)
Well, I've had a reply.
I am sure that one day Grungni and Valaya will return one day, however I
am not sure they will return in a campaign fought at a global level as
they would only really be interested in Dwarf interests.
But keep an eye out for the next campaign as we don't even know what is
Hobby Service Centre
So, maybe they will return to use, but not yet.
Actually, I can see how they'd come. It'd be like a WW1 kind of thing, ORcs attack a Dwarf hold, the Empire come to their assistance, and Brettonia get mobile as well, then Chaos mobilisies against the Empire etc tec etc. Oh well, maybe as Special Characters in the new Army Book.
It's nice to see GW actually replied to you. Always nice when a company has good customer service
Yeah, they do have good customer service, I was suprised that the reply took a couple of days and that was it, usually they take about a week or so at least.
On a similar note, I sent a reply back to them telling them about my WW1 type idea. This time the Hoby Service Team leader replied.
How about a WW1 kind of thing? Like, an Orc Waaagh! attacks a Dwarf
stronghold, an Empire army moves ot reinforce them, so a Chaos army
assits the Orcs, bringing an army of Dark Elves along, so the High Elves
help the Empire etc etc etc.
But whatever you decide on, I'll be looking forward to it .
And Frank sent me this back:
So.... the Skaven would assassinate Arch-Duke Franz Ferdinand of Aldorf,
thereby prompting the entire old world to mobilise for war, creating an
inevitability of conflict due to logistical schedules as per AJP
Taylor's "War by Timetable"???!?!
Who knows - the next campaign is already written, but you'll have to
wait until mid year to see what it is!
Hobby Service Team Leader
He took it rather well, and we know when the next Campaign will be. I just wanted to share that with you.
So, the next Campaign will be mid next year, but won't feature Grungni or Valaya , oh well, maybe as Special Characters in the new Army Book.
