Hey there. I am currently in a tourney at my game store and we had just finished the first round yesterday and my Dwarfs did great. I was playing VC,who had about a Hero, 3 units of zombies, and some grave guard units with his Hero. I set up in a battle line, with my thunderers and cannon on the hill, while my Longbeards held the center with 2 units of warriors in the flanks with some space between them. The first turn wasn't much, he just marched forward and his magic was dispelled by me luckily, and I responded with my thunderers killing a couple of zombies and my cannon killed a few grave guard. The next turn, he marched forward into charge range, and again, I dispelled his magic. My thunderers killed more zombies from the same unit but my cannon crushed more of his grave guard as well as his hero . It ended shorty after that when my longbeards decimated a zombie unit and the warriors and thunderers took care of the rest. What helped me here was able to really good moral checks, good roles on shooting, and for the massacre to me against the VC army. got Dark Elves next, wish me luck.
Good going, but alas a bit lucky? Perhaps he should have made the zombie units into 2 units and without the graveguards (Fellbats instead?)
On your list I would say; Go for an organ gun in the list if you have it. It KILLS in 500pts!
