ok in my exp ive found cannons lovely (one elf mage went splat) but whats ur opinion
spambot kill tally: 79
[16:19] <@Alzer> Arky's right though
[16:20] <@Kaiser-> I know he is.
[16:20] <@Kaiser-> He usually is.
[16:20] <@Kaiser-> Sometimes it's intentional.
[00:01] <+zubus> i love you, ya skirt wearin nothern monkey! ^_^
I like them, they're great for destroying chariots and the like, large monsters and large infantry blocks. But in lower games I would personnaly go for a BT being as they're cheap (two for the cost of one cannon) and very reliable (no misfire chart).
But personnally I would choose a ST over the cannon, to me it just is better. It has a better chance of killing more, better range and as long as it's LOS isn't blocked I can aim for something way, way back. But that's just me.
Anyways yes I think cannons are worth it.
Ehh, you just answered the question yourself, kill the mage then shoot a regiment and you got your points back with ease. They are reliable and good, atm one of the best artillery pieces in the game.
Well I guess cannons are worth it, but it depends on a lot of things. The cannon really shines vs high T armies like orcs and that since it goes through ranks and characters with ease plus with the correct rune is just as reliable as the BT.
So keep the cannon is my advice, because when you face the big tough armie you have the nastiest trick up your sleave with a cannon.
Cannons are worth it, but i wouldent take too many. One is good enough, two is better but any more and your wasting your sp. slots. I almost always take a stone thrower or two because they are alot better when faced with alot of troops (Preferably on the little bases so i can hit more). I rarely take bolt throwers because IMO there a waste of 45 points! I'd rather have a stone thrower than two Bolt throwers, because the bolt throwers always miss when you need them to hit. Generally in a 2000 point game i take:
1 Stone Thrower
20 Hammerers (Much better than warmachines )
Sometimes i use 2 Bolt throwers too.
The only rare i use is the gyro and occasionally an organ gun. The gyro is pure brilliance and the organ gun, well, no-one wants to have 10 st.5 -3 save hits smash into them do they?!
A Promise to a dead man means nothing.
after being on the recieving end of alot of warmachines i would say that the st poses the biggest threat but that might just be as i have big units
