Im very very new to eldar and im trying to build a list.

i love the ranger models and I love foot slogging armies in an all mechanised environment.

I want to build a list similar to this but im wondering if i could possibly still put in a farseer bike unit with warlocks and still have it work. and do guardians work better than dire avengers?

to answer your question: dire avengers are pwnage with a wave serpent, not so pwnage without one. Storm guardians also work a treat for a combat army as a cheap meat shield with possible anti tank functions, guardians with a heavy weapon platform work but it's very much a get the hell away from the enemy position and are really really brittle when hit.

a biker council works, but the main theory with eldar is that things need to work together, you can't do something without support of something else: eg howling banshees, need a farseer with doom/wave serpent to truely shine and possibly a backup unit near by to draw fire and or counter assault.

i'm guessing from your choice of units you want 1000-1500pts of combat force that moves up the board in either one giant wave (that needs to survive the turns of shooting) or pins the enemy down whilst your super heavies come into combat.

write up a proper list with a points limit and units and more people will be able to help you expand the concept, unless you want someone to write you a list to take ideas from. as it stands right now there is alot of things i can say but i'm not sure if it's all relevant to what your after.

your second thought was my intent.

one side of board is big scarys wraithlords with scatter lazers and shuriken cannons to take down rhinos and those in it.

other side of board is rangers and scorpions with warp spiders and seer/bike unit.

plus I used a 1500 point list with most of the models above and it fared pretty well.

the game was against space wolves and he had 3 drop pods. they all came down byt turn two and my wraithlords busted each of the units coming out of them with mass fire from scatter lazers and shurikan cannons on each. I kept the warlocks in reserve they came in on turn three and ran forward and with doom/templates from warlocks cleaned out a objective letting me win with one captured objective at end of turn 5 with two tanger units sitting on it. my last wraith lord sat on the other objective he couldnt wound toughness eight.

i kinda understand what ya talking about but without a list i really don't know much

My advise to you over this list is to get a unit or two of jetbikes and take them in your troops. I see you want to do a foot slogging army, but why are you playing eldar for that? Eldar are about their speed, so I would advise taking some jetbikes. If you don't want to then get more harlequins and do a Ranger and Alatoic Force.

Posting a list would be useful to see what you had in your list.

foot slogging can also be a viable tactic and we still have speed bonuses over the other guys with our fleet and guardian platforms who can move and fire heavy weapons plus you can field alot more force than the bike/mech forces.

but yeah once his list is on the site we'll be able to talk beyond general concepts.

the reason I want to footslogg this army is ebcause cookie cutter mech armies are just too in style. besides eldar models are just too un-ugly to be constantly stuck inside vehicles.

as far as mech goes I do plan to bring two units of bladestorm avengers in wave serpants to accompany half the board with my warlocks on jetbikes.

im doing a half wraithzilla list with the avatar and other half is going to be rangers and dire avengers in wave serpants and warlock jetbikes. the reason I havent put up the list is because I havent bought the models yet. I do not like the normal jetbikes though Iv eplaytested them and with the group I play they pop apart too often.

council always work... but i don't think u have the points in 1,5k list. You can add it to go from 1,5k to 2k list.

Put in an avatar, 3 wrathlords, 5 units of guardians with scatterlaser and if u find the points an units of guardians jetbike to use to contest in the last turn. this is a cool and good army.

avatar and some wraithlords are key. they are fire magnets and the fearless aura lets you avoid embolden on your guardian warlocks.

you could take a wraithguard as a troops unit to be an anvil unit with some scary close range firepower.

however, i would advise you take your rangers and guardians in the troops slots and use the FA slots to get some warp spiders, for high spead manuverability and countering. shining spears might also be useful here.

eldrad or a farseer with fortune and guide are also good complements.
