Well i play the nids and well i think if i were to start a new team i would deffinatley play iyanden, and so i have a question, do you have to paint them the way they show in the codex**my friend has it** because i much rather paint how i want it and then play by their rules just because the whole blue with yellow flames is so boring compared to something that i would have in mind

You don't have to paint them yellow and blue, but they're not really Iyanden-esque enough otherwise. Would Blood Angels still be as bloody if you didn't paint them red?

One of the advantages of painting the Iyanden is that their small model count allows you to paint each model with more detail. A giant Wraithlord allows you a huge canvas to work on. For example, one of my Wraithlords is yellow and blue, like the Iyanden should be, but the head is a graduated blue covered wit Eldar runes. The body is mostly bone and yellow, with the hands and feet bloodied like Khaine's Avatars. I green-stuffed a tabard between his legs and painted that yellow as well, with the Iyanden rune on it in addition to the Rune of the Shrine of the pilot. A little bit of extra work doesn't seem so daunting when you've only got twenty models to paint.

yeah, but i saw warlock purple and went wow that would look cool with eldar and then saw iyanden and thought it would totally fit me so you know what are you gonna do :hmm: i found a cool color scheme and a cool team do you think i should go blue and yellow over something that looks cooler... but still i could still add you know alot of things that make them look "iyanden" like

A friend of mine is doing something similar with his T-Sons: regal purple and gold instead of blue and yellow. It's a very neat look. Just as a matter of taste, though. I like bright yellow. It stands out like no one's business on the battlefield, too.

thats cool, i take to much time to paint .. he he i take like over 4 hours or so to paint a fricken gaunt well... thats when im not concentrating to much if im trying really hard to get it done it still takes me over 3 hours it really depends **3-6 hours, for genestealers too** but anyways they come out good so i'm still happy i think i know what i'm gonna do for the iyanden or might do but i will still make it look "iyanden" like for all of those who are mad at me for this

But sticking to the Codex colors is nice too. Because everyone in the hobby store is going to say: "Whoah! Look, it's one of those Eldar Yonden... Weehand... Deeyandon... whatever armies. With all those tough troops and killer dreadnoughts!" Their colors are easily recognizable and brings much respect when you bring them on the table. The Oooohs and the Aaaaahs. Priceless. :-)
