This is my first 2000 point Empire list. This list is meant to take all comers, most notably all elves, Dwarves, and O&G. Is it a bad idea to put the warrior priest and the BSB in the same unit? Please tell me what you think.
Wow, can't believe I am the first to post here. Well, anyhow, I guess I can still give you my thoughts. As far as your question, I would say don't put them in the same unit. Think about how much you lose if you can't make an 8 leadership test...like 1/4 of your army. And here is my question: Why a master engineer? I guess I can see him going on the Hellblaster but personally, I don't think it is worth the cost since you have a 50% of misfiring every time and the chart is horrible and you only increase the BS by one. Those points would better spent on a wizard to boost your magic and dispel (get some dispel scrolls!!!) and maybe w/ lore or beasts (cast that on your BSB and let your opponent try to knock him out then). Also, get detachments for your Swordsmen, the prospect of ignoring ranks and getting a flank bonus is worth it every time as they are the only things that are going to give you the win against elitist troops. I would suggest taking the points from Flaggelants, they don't really need a huge number, just enough to get there, throw a couple in for end is nigh and cause a ton of wounds, rank bonus is just frosting. Also, try to deck out your warrior priest w/ more than that, try mounting him or maybe even giving him a shield w/ "Hammer" of Might and Dawn Armour, otherwise he will die super easy and that was a big loss. I might also suggest a GW for your Arch lector or some other magic weapon.
JakeHunter, how many flaggies would you recommend? 12-15?
I usually run 15-20. It's enough that if they take shooting damage, they will still have some ranks and you can safely do "End is Nigh" a couple of times. Really, I use them to either break a weaker unit or muck up an expensive one. Those numbers will get you through two or three rounds of combat for sure.
