Doubles tournament coming up and it'll be the first time my Empire will see competative game play (I usually bring my orcs to such events). I managed to get hold of a skaven partner, who managed to get an idea to bring pure infantry skaven a.k.a. big units of clan rats, giant rats, and plague monks. (no SAD) but a storm banner to deny shooting and flying. He's just supposed to take frontal charges, hold and provide static. While I hit flanks.
2X Warrior priest with heavy armour, GW, barded warhorse. One has VHS the other with Aldreds casket of sorcery.
Lvl 2 wizard on warhorse, DS
3X10 man units of knights
After a few games I think that flankers work better as smaller units so they can move easier. Maybe drop the knights to 5x each, which will make units of 6 with the character. You can get 2 other small units of knights and add maybe a cannon or two then to increase your ability to flank more.
Also to increase flank threat, maybe add the doomfire ring to a priest instead of the VHS? If your ally is taking the spearhead then he should be the one facing characters & heroes, not you. If you want the VHS, maybe put it on the wizard for even lower stats to swap and use the lore of fire - hopefully picking up the flaming sword (use with VHS) and burning head (awesome w flanking)
Ok Ok Ok, so we talked/thought about it yesterday (as we have 2 weeks before the actual day) and here's the changes. I had to take some magic items off my characters to do this, so it's not over points.
3X6 man full command knights
Is that better?
Do you know who you're up against? It would be nice to know but if not I think this sounds like a good army with the skaven swarming and your men pincer sqeezing.
