Although my collection numbers over 2,500pts, I have decided to break it down, so that I can paint it from the ground-up. Below is my first 500pts. Please rate .

Interesting. Perhaps drop a couple of Swordsmen and give them a detachment of some kind. I would also question the need to have a level 2 Wizard at 500 points.
A moment of laxity spawns a lifetime of heresy.
Never forgive, never forget.
my 500 point list went like this (off the top of my head)
Captain of the Empire with full plate & shield (in the swordsmen)
Great Cannon -the 2 matches ive played so far it has been worth its weight in gold
19 swordsmen w/ full command
10 halberd detach
10 greatswords w/champion
this is abit infantry heavy but at 500 points its always fun to outnumber and hence be able to out maneuver most other armies.
when going to 750 i would probaly bulk the greatswords up and add some crossbows/handgunners (hard to decide which)
to 8725matt: i probably wouldnt sink so many points into a character at 500pts, esp when he can get killed pretty easy. what unit do you put him in to take advantage of the magic resistance? you could probably get a captain with mundane armour, who will last longer & better lead your troops, and a bare bones wizard for cheaper, ex. captain w/full plate & shield, and a wizard only comes to 130pts, which would give you a strong leader, a bit of magic, and 15 extra points for more troops or upgrades.
to eighty: if the cannon works for you thats great. i think it is a big risk when it costs a fifth of your army for something that can blow itself up & is probably wanting for high toughness or monsterous targets to take out. also detachments can only be as big as half of the unit rounding down, and characters in the unit dont count so your swordsmen could only have 9 halbrediers & your greatswords could only have 5. i would take the points from the cannon & the two extra halbrediers in the greatsword's detachment to bump your swordsmen up to 20 (thereby making their 10 man detachment legal) and invest in a 10 man unit of handgunners or crossbowmen. i prefer crossbowmen for their longer range, but if you are fighting heavily armoured enemies then go with the handgunners for the armour piercing bullets. when bumping up to 750 i would go for some calvary and a wizard in addition to the extra greatswords, maybe some pistoliers or outriders for a good fast attack, "harassing" unit. you can always add the cannon back at 1000 points, when you will probably have some much nicer targets to take out!
