hey guys, my friends and i are beginning a escalation style campaign starting at 500 points and going from there.
as a reference I will be playing against Vampire counts, skaven, warriors of chaos, lizardmen, daemons of chaos and dark elves (am i the odd one out? hell no! empire for life)
Captain w/ Sword of Justice and AomI
20 swordsmen w/ Banner/musician
10 halberd detach
10 Marksmen w/ longrifle
10 greatswords w/ champion
- i used to have a cannon in here in place of the marksmen, however it didnt pull its weight in 5 practice matches, i have yet to try a game with the marksmen(there tryouts are on tuesday!)
Captain w/ Aomi and sword of justice
lvl 1 wizard w/ 45 points to spend (some help here be appreciated, so much to choose from)
20 swordsmen w/ full command
10 halberd detach
6 crossbow detach
10 marksmen w/ long rifle
15 greatswords w/ champ and banner
5 crossbow detach
now here is where things get screwy. for my 1000 pnt list (we have only played 750 games) i upgraded the captain to a general and threw in a cannon.
does this sound about right? or are you screaming at your moniter right now "eighty you dunce put kniggets in" or what have you.
also most point lists i find include a BSB around 1500 points. is this a good idea? or should i throw him in even earlier. is a captain on a steed ok for this or should i try something else
finally any feedback is appreciated, whether it be changes to my current lists or suggestions on what should go in next(very helpful!)
i dont want to let the empire down, most of my friends laugh at my puny human stat lines and i want to rub it in their faces. oh and none of them play nice (i.e they will **** me over at every opportunity haha
quick update. the 750 point setup seems to be doing ok right now.
Played vs a warrior of chaos spamming warrior army and managed (through one lucky panic test) to whittle him down enough to give myself an edge when he finally managed to join combat. he was a new player so literally ran straight at my lines.
second game was vs a vampire count with much more experience (and more importantly) he included some bats, wolves and a vargulf - the mobility and ability to mess my shooting put us on pretty even ground. then a bad miscast on my behalf (lowering my wizards level to 0- thanks winds of magic!) let his vampire run rampant over my army spamming invocation and horde of undead - the end result being he brought back alot more ghouls than i could kill and i was tabled.
hopefully going to run againt a melee heavy lizardman army and an unknown demon force this weekend. any advice on what next to add to my army is really appreciated. I currently have a cannon, mortar, rocket battery, 5 pistoliers and 8 knights ready to come in over the next 500 points.
