Captain of the Empire - 104
Armor of Meteoric Iron
x14 Greatswords- 164
x1 Mortar- 75
x24 Swordsman- 154
total - 497
The idea here would be 2 blocks with 6x4. Captain obviously filling the slot in the GS's.
What are your thoughts ladies and gents?

The sword is pretty nasty but you need to be alive to swing it. This guy only has a 4+ sv, T4 and two wounds. and that is no where near survivable. Maybe just grab him a Great weapon and the AoMI and the Dawnstone for a complete tank. You might find a Level 2 Wizard more useful though as magic can make a huge impact ad when that's in smaller games it can be game wining.
Maybe a cheap magic banner like the Radiant std? Personally I'd drop some models in this unit to find points for a Mortar or something. Mortars are amazing for their points.
Run these guys as 5 wide. There is no need to run them 6 wide as they wont win combat by inflicting wounds anyway. Then see about using any spare points to give them as many ranks as possible.
a magic banner in the GS's will be impossible as Knightly orders and the BSB are the only units with magic banner available to them. Also can't find the radiant banner in the AB or the BRB...lol....
Really I am looking for an army here that is fun to play, competitive but not too cheesy. currently the league has 18 people to join it and most of the armies are represented minus OnG and TK. I am concerned with my ability to inflict wounds on the higher toughness armies such as Ogres.
My god. I always thought that Great Swords could take magic banners. Damn, why the hell not?!?. That sucks something Chronic. The Radiant standard is a 5pt magic banner in the BRB. It allows you to re-roll your first failed LD test.
Ogres are a tough one. You really need to whittle them down in numbers before they charge you or they'll chuck out so many Attacks/Impact hits/Stomps your whole unit will be killed. The best way of knocking ogres out is to cause Panic tests. Their Characters are so expensive they're only going to b able to take take a Bruiser or a Butcher. So if they take the Butcher they are down to LD7 for the whole army. This makes them really easy to panic. If he takes a Bruiser then he has no magic......
If you grabbed a Fire wizard you'd have some magical artillery to cause Panic tests from afar. The Sig spell can be boosted to quite nasty proportions.
Oh, and something I forgot to mention, you have to have at least 3 units in your army. You only have two.
yep i noticed it after i made it... and was going to edit it but didn't get around to it...
and actually to go along with that I guess that means that ogres might be a little easier to break then i thought.. As due to the low point total and how pricey their heroes will be, i am looking at maybe one unit being 6 models strong. Haven't really looked at their book so not sure what their minimum unit size is but i am guessing 3+.
See above for edit.
