[2000] Empire army list of Altdorf

Well my army of Altdorf have grown to become worthy of a true general of the Empire and as it gathered some crucial experience in the light of the many battles it fought it changed slightly from what it was supposed to be at first.

This is the army I will take to fight those Bretonnians heretics tomorrow. If any other general have a comment, flame or praise to make on it I hope he will feel free to do so. I made it following the principle that were taught to me and everything in it is there to support my battle line.

That's a pure TVI style list for the ones that know what it refers to. Everything in here is there to support the infantry line.

There will be 3 regiments that will support each other.

    Regiment 1:
    The elector count
The unit of 28 swordsmen with its 2 detchments
    1 unit of knights

    Regiment 2:
    A captain
The unit of 29 swordsmen with its 2 detachments
    1 unit of knights

    Regiment 3:
    A captain
The unit of 30 spearmen with its 2 detachments
    The unit of Pistolier

So that's it, tell me what you think of it and how well I will fare against a Bretonnian General.

Well since no one answered I think I will do it myself.
My opponent completely smashed my army. He rolled over it like a train and he didn't need to come back to wipe out the pieces left of it as his men at arms took care of it since there was almost nothing left.

Yes I made some deployement mistakes and yes I had some bad luck with the dice, like when I lost a unit of Knights to a charging unit of squire... well I guess it happens and those squire just got promoted to the status of Knight of the realms

Well this list is hard to move around with 9 components and 3 regiments might be one too many. If one piece of it fall apart then the line will crumble easily. I don't think I will play it again, it is way too difficult for a beginner like me to handle.

A Griffon banner would have helped greatly of that I'm sure against those cavalry charge, than and a Hellblaster in place of the handgunners.

I think against Brets it might have worked better to use slightly small units with slightly bigger detachments, and maybe swapped the knights for some more infantry, or for a Helblaster. You should've put the heroes in the parent units for leadership and then baited the knights so you could counter-charge or something like that. I don't know quite how much one wants to avoid a charge, but that might've worked a bit better.
I need the bugger so I can see!

The quickest way to dissolve Bretonnians, is to charge them!! Set up units that can hit them hard, I.E. Halbadeirs, Greatswords etc, and flank them with small knight detatchments.

Either that, or try a gun line. They can be devistating!!
    New LOChat functions now avaliable.

Well a Hellblaster is definitively going to appear in my next army list.

The things went wrong when he had the opportunity to charge my detachments instead of my parent units and destroy the center parent unit (the 30 pikemen with the handgunners) with a combined charge of a lance of Knights of the Realm and a lance of Knights Errants with their general. From there my line crumbeled.

I'm not sure what could have whitstand such a charge and not just lose the combat... I lost by 5 CR points. I guess Flagellants are in order to hold the middle part...

Anyway, against Bretonians if you fail to make a counter charge with your detachment then your parent unit is toasted. The movement phase seems to be everything, that's why 9 elements are way too much to coordinate accuratly in a battlefield.
