Hi, I'm new to WFB and have just joined my local club's Border Patrol league, I have limited figures and am looking for advice on my Army List.
I have available
5 Heavy cavalry
19 Handgunners inc Command
18 Swordsmen/Militia inc Command
4 Ogre Bulls
3 Ogre Leadbelchers
Plus mtd and Foot Hero and Wizard
My first attempt at a list reads as follows:
Hero Captain, Heavy Armour, Pistol and Wyrmslayer Sword 85pts
14 Swordsmen inc. Duellist, Musician and Standard Bearer 123pts
12 Handgunners inc Marksmen, Musician and Standard Bearer 116pts
3 Leadbelchers inc Thunderfist 175pts
First off, welcome to WHFB! ^_^
This seems like a very good Army List, on paper. Leadbelchers will be a very hard-hitting unit, and your opponents will probably have a hard time taking them out unless they take a warmachine. The Captain will fit in nicely with the swordsmen, and you should place the handgunners in one, long rank.
You need to play games using this list, and see how it does. If the Leadbelchers don't work, you can take a Great Cannon and a Mortar, these might do well for you. Or, drop the Handgunners' Marksmen, Musician and Standard Bearer and take 2 Great Cannons.
All these will work at 499 points.
Hope I've helped.
Latest list reads as follows:
Battle Wizard, Sigil of Sigmar, Wizards Staff, Biting Blade 105pts
5 White Wolf Knights 125pts
13 Handgunners inc Musician 109pts
4 Ogre Bulls with Ironfists 160pts
Grand Total 499pts
Can change the Bulls for 3 Leadbelchers if need be by dropping the musician in the handgunner unit.
We are playing to set criteria as follows:
Hero max 125pts inc Magic Items.
Must have 1 unit of minimum 10 Infantry.
Only one Rare/Special Choice.
No Magic Banners.
Would like opinions please
That's a real unusual list, IMO. If I were you I'd drop the Ogres for a nice, big, solid unit of 18 Swordsmen and Command, this should be around 160 points.
I'd drop the units of the White Wolf, too, as 5 is too small a number to really do anything and I don't think you'll need all those S6 attacks. A Mortar/Cannon could be in order to replace these.
After this you should have around 40-60 points left, which could buy the Swordsmen detachments.
Nice list....here's my two cents...
Blade? The term "Battle Wizard" should NEVER be taken literaly(sp?). So please, for your magic
phase`s sake...(this goes for all of you) don't put a weapon on your caster. Don't make my
Not sure why you have an odd # of Handgunners there...command models replace troops, not
make a new one
(only reason I could think of).
