I can't post in the army lists section for some reason so if a mod would could please move this.
Ok as of now I only own the empire regiment box. This is the army I would like to work towards (edited by suggestions of course). I have exactly zero experience with fantasy so I have no idea how this would work. I also only own the 6th ed rulebook (will get 7th eventually).

-Moved to Empire Army lists
If this is your first list then congratulations, because it's better than some of the ones that have been done by veterans I know.
A couple of slight modifications, and then I think it could be brilliant.
1) Try and make the 2 core major units 23 strong (so they rank up a 4*6)
2) Make the free company detacthments 10 strong. This will sure them up against casualties they will suffer on charges, making sure that they will deny the rank. (This could be done by removing both of the 5 man units of handgunners, or perhaps and ogre)
Apart from that it looks pretty solid. Best of luck :ninja:
I've made hundreds of army lists for every race but yes this is the 1st empire list I've ever received critique on.
The squads are that size because its convenient to buy them like that. I can get another one though.
I thought the free company were a bit small and were susceptible to casualties cutting their effectiveness. They will be upped a bit.
The general idea I'm going for is trying to make sure I outshoot most enemies so that I can bleed them down as they march towards me. Then try and hold with core units and countercharge with big things.
PS: Wizards staff is such a good item. It lets my lone wizard use all 4 power dice that I generate. I love it!Thanks for the help.
I you wish to slow down the progress of an army to shoot them then you may want to consider some pistoliers (poor spelling I know), or perhaps even using the lore of life/shadows for spells like mistress of the marsh/pit of shades, although there is no guarantee that you will get them of course.
A unit of Huntsman may be useful, as they can scout and distract the enemy for their march?!
I hope this helps :ninja:
You may find that a couple of mortars will do more damage against a lot of armies than the cannons, plus they're slightly cheaper.
Of course the hellblaster is always fun. A nice way to use it is to keep it behind a unit of handgunners. Then when the enemy get in close range change the formation of the handgunners and fire away! Quite nasty if it works(Y)
Couple of things...
First off your captain is illegal as the sword of Sigismund is 60 pts and the captain only has a 50 point allowance
I agree with Stoney, in that a single mortar will help for whittling down an enemy advance, much more effective than handgunners and even better when used in conjunction with each other.
Huntsman and pistoliers will serve well for march blocking and distraction to slow the enemy but i would advise not relying on magic to do it for you.
The Knight unit is good, it will smash anything it hits.
I would place the Warrior Priest in the free company, the more dice you re-roll the better.
And the general consensus that the core units need to be increased in sized in good advise. Consider units of 30-35 with the halberdiers and about 30 for the swords. And there is no reason you should not have 40 free company for a pitence...
But your list is very solid. Good Work
hm I could have sworn sigismund was cheaper. I'll check the book when I get home.
Anyway if I can't take it I'll take meteoric Iron instead to keep him alive. Maybe sword of might too.
A friend of mine says hes starting tomb kings (several months ago) but I doubt he will actually get started. He owns exactly 1 skeleton so far.
Consider mounting him (the BS. Full plate, and barded warhorse for a 2+ save and an extra attack, he cannot be targetted anymore and save the points for your Sword of Might
But then he can't join any of the squads. Is that important in fantasy? it is in 40k.
