    Empire at the Grand Tournament

    Hello all!

With the GT qualifiers in the UK just around the corner i thought i would guage everyones opinion on the Empires chances this year!!

Empire are usually well represented at the qualifiers, although many do not make i through to the finals two day competition.

With the release of the new army book how well do you feel the Empire will fair this year?

Also what themes of armies do you expect to see (i.e. all cavalry, missile, infantry etc), and do you think a particular specialist army will do better than a more generalised, balanced force?

Im new to Empire but they are a solid force and are somewhat more forgiving then my previous force (dark elves) i think they should do well.

I have seen alot of gunline empire but personally i think it isnt all that strong and a balanced list is ALWAYS the way to go sure maybe more missile orientated or melee orientated but the empire works best with all its parts working together in unison for the glory of the Emperor of course!

Id be interested to hear others thoughts on this aswell Muppet

    Peace,
    Jack

*War Alter - Warpriest with VHS
*2 huge units of swords with sword detachments
    Handgunners - maybe
    Flaggellants maybe
    *Pistoliers
    Greatswords probably
    *2 great cannons
    *Rocket Launcher
Either a combination of warriests or lvl2 wizards with the rod of power and some bound items.
The * you are guaranteed to see, the other stuff will vary depending on how shooty they want to be. This is a pretty tough combo especially with 2 bounds and 2 wizards and then a captain on a pegasus with the casket, but it is beatable.

I would suspect to see the same results as in other GTs. at least one empire army in the top 10 (sometimes top 5) and then a couple more sprinkled about in the top half of the standings depending on the matchups and generals.

    Wizards or Priests

War Alter - Archlector with VHS

    Pistoliers/Outriders

    Handgunners

    Units of 5 Knights

    At least 2 Cannons

    2 Steam Tanks

Its the War Alter / Two Steam Tanks combo that makes Empire so dirty at Tornys. 2 Steam Tanks are so hard to kill, and you need to kill them to get their VP's as they count as War Machines...very annoying. War Alter gives magic support etc- Cannons take out treemen, Dragons, War Machines. Ouch...
