hey, im going to be paying more attention to my empire army of the Sea of Claws..
i just picked up the new-ish army book for them, and im not that sure what i need for my army. this is what i have:
captain of empire on horse
wizard on horse
8 free company
so i was thinking of 10 flagellants, rocket battery, and pistolleers...what else should i get? thanks!
EDIT: lol sorry about the title, was in a hurry
Thats a difficult question since you didnt really clear out what kind of army you would like to field.
But looking at the models you already have I would say complete the greatsword unit to 20-25 men.
Other then that I cant give you any advice try to make it more clearly what you would like your army to be.
well, im not really going for any certain fluff-type army, or an all cav, or gunline arym, ect.
basically, just a standard list to play to get back into the army.
so...my question is, for a standard 2k point army, what stands out as to what im missing? should a get crossbowman, more gunners? flagellants? i dont have much money so, what do you think i need the most?
not sure what the sea of claws is, but
Swordsmen are the best troops by far, so it never hurts to have lots of them ( I like 2 big units of 25-30 each with 8-10 more swordsmen as a detachment for each unit)
I think pistoliers and the rocketbattery are a must, maybe another cannon (they work well in pairs)
10 flaggellants seems like a waste to me (they die so easy, that you really need 20-30 for their unbreakability to work) They are so fragile now and still expensive, that I've always steered away from them. Others seem to get them to work for them, but always in a big tarpit way.
The same with your greatswords, they'll need to be bolstered to 18 strong atleast as well.
the Sea of Claws is located to the north-west so this army is painted a light blue and light grey color scheme, and they act sorta like a sea patrol...
Then Swordmen would be fluffy too
but you don't want to be limited by the fluff of your region. So the units your missing for a core empire army are (well at least my view on it):
1. 2-3 20+ swordmen units (I prefer 25 men)
2. 20-25 Greatswords
3. 1 or 2 units handgunners/crossbows of 10 (can also be taken as detachments)
4. Detachments consisting of what ever you like in formation of 3x3 (9men)
5. Steam tank
6. 20+ flagelants
Looking at the models you already have you could use the spearmen and 8 handgunners as detachments.
For heroes I suggest general of the empire or perhaps karl franz as the general.
Well goodluck with it.
