i am thinking of making a 2k reikland/carrobourg themed army with lots of greatswords and knights. (they are my fav models) what would be the best compositon of units? and could it actually work? i was thinking 3 greatsword units 1 inner circle knights and a normal knight unit.
hmm, it's a very cool theme, knights mounted and on foot...
what would you core choices be? i think inner circle knights are Special, so you only have one so far... The problem i see with your army is that all the units are 'hammer' units, but you have no anvil units to hold the line and add static combat Res. Greatswords are way to expensive to be buying more than an extra rank for them, so you may want a nice big block of core infantry, possibly with the griffon banner.
you may want to also think about other areas of a warhammer game: Assuming your heroes will mostly be combat /knight characters, you may have problems with magic, while this army would also lack Shooting or manouvrability (knights can move fast, but they are normally deployed with a wide frontage and so use a lot of movement to wheel)
Pistoliers are meant to be knights in training, so they would be useful, but they would be taking up one of your precious Special Slots. mounting a combat hero on a flying mount would also be useful for manuvrability.
