I've almost got 2000 points of lizardmen and I plan to start empire and build them up with my lizardmen simultaneosly. I basically plan to get the battalion ad warrior priest with two battle wizards, but I need to know if those are good hero choices.
This is a good core start for you 3 cores, 2 specials and 3 heroes there heroes you have choosen are pretty good for magic defence but only warrior priest being the fighter. I would go for a general for your 2000pt army with his leadership and Truthly i'd ditch a battle wizard or warrior priest for a captain battle standard bearer, He is a wise investment and has saved my army many times just mount him on a warhorse and he's good to go.
I'd get a few more boxes of state combat and shooter boxers. Also mayby another peice of artillery wouldnt go without a miss to.
What kind of force do you wanna do? sigmar, magic, combat, shooting heavy? I myself useally is a balanced army.
Also choice of enemies many factors to make your army workable.
The battalion box is a great start- and after your done with this id suggest looking at the reenforcement battalion (or whatever its called) with the flaggies, 2x battle wizards, Organ gun/Rockets and a unit of state troopers- as all these are great units for an Empire force- whats not to love about unbreakable madmen and unpredictable rockets!

have you read the tacticas at the top of the page? I'd hate to reply with a huge post, when several people have already spent hours writing their opinions on how to field an army. Some of the tacticas are really good, non-biased explanations of different units and characters and some ideas on how to use them. Check those out first, it may answer some of you questions or help you ask the right questions.
I would hate to have you buy a bunch of stuff and then you don't use it (like I have). Read the tacticas, come up with a list, post the list and see what people say about it. Refine it, and play it. Playtest if you can or if you have friends that will let you proxy or have an army to lend you. That helps you see if all the theorizing actually works on the battlefield.
