Hey Everyone. I am brand new to empire and i have decided to approach my army list a little differently. I will not be using what i consider the crappy state troops models that the empire has to offer. I will instead be using the men of gondor from the LOTR game (they are just as tall just less mass that means lighter armor!!) and 24 men for 25 bucks is the best deal ive seen. Pretty standard i was thinking of running them as this:
Gondor Spearmen= Empire Spearmen
Gondor Swordmen= Empire Swordsmen
Gondor Bowmen= Empire Bowmen
Knights of Dol Armoth on Foot= Greatswords
Gondor knights= Empire Knightly order (conversion to make the knights same size!)
BattlecryTrebuchet=Mortar or cannon (cant decide which)
Heros; Will use and convert warhammer fantasy/ LOTR for heros.
Just wanted to see what you all think, thanks for your time.

I own a few Gondorians on foot, and I don't recall them standing nearly as tall as Empire soldiers. They look absolutely tiny, like children next to the Imperials.
However, if you want to do this, I would be fine going with your choice of models, as it all makes sense. Just remember, if you ever intend to go to a Games-Workshop event, the army will not be legal because GW doesn't own the rights to New Line's Citadel stuff, therefore even conversions including LOTR *BITZ* are barred from winning any awards, save the LOTR ones.

Well I dunno where you are, but in Australia, GW said they don't care if you take LOTR models in their tournaments, but they said that they can't take photo's of your army and put them in their publications. Since then, they have stopped any input in their publications so thats not a problem, while most fantasy tourneys here don't even make you use citadel mini's so it's not a problem in the first place.
