I have been playing a 1000 point lizardmen army. However, I have always liked the Empire army. I was wondering if it is possible to do a themed army for Empire that is based upon being a chaos cult drawn together. If so, where would you suggest starting?
an obvious answer would be mixing chaos warrior bits to normal empire troops, or painting the same mark on the models in discrete places, or on their shields.
for fluff, you might want to limit your choices. steam cannons would be out, as would hellblasters and helstorms (no budding cult would have the resources to steal/buy one)
lots of free company and flagellants to represent zealots would make sense, as well as wizards. No warrior priests, maybe.
you could also use some gangers from necromunda and from the mordheim range (they have a cultist warband) to give some character to your army.
actually you could even have a war alter in the army, turn it into a shrine to one of the dark gods with a conversion.
you could field a unit of chaos warriors in your army and play it as greatswords, or use a steed of slaanesh instead of a pegasus. small conversions to make the army unique.
Oi! Get off me beard!
If you don't mind using not-entirely-tournament-legal rules, try the Cult of Ulric rules. They don't have any gunpowder, but have more infantry, and powerful, more aggressive Priests, which could easily go from being Priests of Ulric to Priests of Chaos.
FABRICATI DIEM, PVNC
Using the Cult of Ulric list seems like a great idea. I could change the names of the weapons and items using the counts as rulings, correct?
And would you suggest taking bits from Chaos to alter some of the people and standards?
Are the minitures in the Mordheim range the same size as in Fantasy. If so, I found an awsome model for my wizard. lol.
