Hey there guys how are you?
My main thought is; could you create an army that would fit the theme of being lead by a withch hunter. yeah im aware there is no actual witch hunter in the book, but for fluff wise what units would you include more so than others just to fit the theme of a WH and his elite warband?
Not sure if it makes sense but if anyone somewhat understands what im trying to say then any replies would be much appreciated =)
ofcause there is a witch hunter in the book, its called a captian, pistol, light /heavy armour
all they are is heroes
tbh, I'd prefer to use a WP, especially with the whole hammer thing going.
What you could do is represent Free Company as peasants duped into service of this shadowy figure or local militia joining his banner, use Flagellants as fanatical nuts, State Troops as units forced to work for him (similar to the Inquisition in 40K), Knightly Orders as perhaps monks with a "better than thou" attitude, and... you get the idea.
The great thing about GW fluff is that they've left in open-ended. You can do what you want with it.
You could always take a look at the Witch Hunter warband from Mordheim for some inspiration. I use my Witch Hunters as a Free Company detachment. I even take the Warhounds, as they are particularly good for hunting down heretics.
Swords, Pistols and Crossbows seem to be popular amongst Hunters. Perhaps you could also incorporate some Duellist skirmishers from the DoW lists - they are pistol and sword, very witch huntery.
The best "captain" to lead your warband would be the witch hunter model holding the severed head.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I will take up some of the ideas and slowly paint up a warband over time using some of the aforementioned ideas
Would be cool, i don't think a WH would keep flaggies in his forces, they would be too random and unreliable for the hunting of witches. Perhaps an elite force of greatswords?
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.

The Dutch Legion
there is a guy named Witchhunter from Scotland that was making a similar themed army about 5 months ago. I don't know if he's still around, but it's definately doable. Personally, I think the DoW list (everyone can have brace of pistols) lends to a better WH army but how to make this even playable is beyond me.
