Should I give me handgunner units full command or any command at all? Is it worth the points or should I invest it straight into more handgunners?
Your Handgunners are there to do shooting, so command options that improve shooting are generally the way to go about it. If you find yourself using a banner, your handgunners aren't doing what you brought them to do.
So for that, I give mine a Marksman with some cool piece, and that's it.
Only time I can see any shoting dedicated unit taking a banner or musician is in tourneys where you need to for army design criteara or just fro cool looks. Usualy even unit champs arn't necesarry as +1 bs doesnt mean much for one shot, but you get cool gear for them in empire.
However, i spose if your using them as a detachment for something it could work, stand and shoot firstround then flank em the next for added combat res.
Have a go and tell us if you have any luck.
Thing is, Detachments can't take a command.
I tend to give mine full command and with either repeater handgun or hochland long rifle.
I find that having them in 2 ranks on a hill with a small detachment gives you a lot of static combat resolution to overcome those "missile troop hunters" that every army seems to have.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
I never give them banners. Banners are just handing over victory points to your opponent in the event that the handgunners see combat. Depending on the list I'm making I might take a champion with a repeater or a musician (for the rally bonus if they get charged by something I dont want them to fight... or to help set up a charge by another unit). Most of the time though, I just use them as detatchments because it gives them a little more oomph- standing and shooting for the parent unit and supporting charges. I like to keep my units cheap and somewhat expendable though.
I would say 10 with a marksman, give him a hochland long rifle or a repeater hand gun.
Wood elf player- 2000 points worth, Autumn theme
Empire player - 3000 points worth, Green and white
Eldar player - 1500 points worth, Blue and white
I usually just took a musician and thats it, if I had points spare a champion with Long Rifle as well
I keep 'em cheap and keep 'em expendable. That means at best the regiment might get a Marksman with a repeater rifle and musician. Usually they're just ass naked though.

Ah, so they use both their rifles AND their guns in battle
The more I've been looking at handgunners, the more I'm tempted to make a semi-static gun line army. Extra hochland long rifles for picking off mages (especially versus Vampire Counts) seems too good to waste... even if they'll be hitting on 5's.
