Im stuck between 2 characters, equiped almost the same to lead my army.
First is Empire general with B-steed, Full plate, Lance, Holy icon, Van horstmans, and Gorgan shield.
Arch Lector with B-steed, Heavy armour, H-icon, Van horstmans, and Gorgan shield.
They would both sit in a unit of greatswords, but where as i get a better strength (lance) and armoursave with my empire general, i get 2 dispel dice, 2 bound spells, and hatred from the arch lector.
im prety sure out of the two i want to take the arch lector but in that case should i drop the B-steed in favour for a war alter? which means i loose hatred on the unit as he wont be in it. i will save ##pts as i dont need to buy the ward from the icon and another##pts for the steed.
What are peoples oppinions and what do they use as general?
I dont think the speculum is worth it on a general since he already has decent stats. He does however gives you a magic standard for a state troops unit. But thats it (IMO)
I would go for the Arch Lector. As you said you get hatred, dispel dice, bound spells and the speculum is better off on this guy. I've also though of using the exact same items;
AL w/ Barded warhorse, Gorgon shield, holy relix and speculum. Thats 3+ armour save, 4+ ward and hopefully nice stats in challenges. The shield is nice, but i've been thinking of either taking this combination or just speculum and shroud (for magic resistance).
my only problem is that i can find a nice model to use for an AL with gorgon shield and hand weapon.. Any tips?
Id personally roll an Arch Lector on foot in a unit of Greatswords with Van Horstmans Speculum, Armour of Meteoric Iron, Holy Relic and a Great Weapon.
1+ Armour Sv, 4+ Ward Sv, with the VHS (obvious targets include Dwarf Lords, Vampires, Black Orc Warbosses, Chaos Champions, etc). Thus giving you +2str (great weapon) added on to whatever the strength of your opponent is? Minimum str 6, likely 7 even.
@ S7 = -4 modifier. Now unless they have a great weapon or magical weapon giving them extra strength or modifiers, you have a static 2+ armour save (your S4 (-1) is given to opponent) with a 4+ ward backup. Especially with you most likely hitting on 3's with hatred.
How cool! Challenge away!
