is Marius Leitdorf an empire special character because i was thinking about starting an empire army but wasn't sure if he is a special character.
Please don't cut me at the knees short scary giner person with a beard.
He is in as far as he is a named character who has had some rule im sure in the past, but he is included as just an elector count with rune fang etc as stated on the GW website, but has no individual rules in the empire army book.
From what I have heard on the rumour mill, he is likely to be released along with the STANK and the other new plastics as a model - may result in some updated rules for him alone...
I'm thinking |WD special rules. And perhaps a book entry in the next armybook.
Back in the armybook from 1996 (3rd edition I think, not sure, back in the days, when you could include kislevites, dwarfs, halflings, ogres, hot pots and war wagons in the standard list) he sure is a special character. No special rules though, a runefang and inproved stats as far as I can see.
In the newer armybooks I can't seem to find him, but i'm not 100% sure, since I usually flip past the special characters (house rule = no special characters).
I believe in the 4th edition (3rd didn't have army books - just WD articles!) list, Leitdorf had Frenzy and also had 1 additional attack from his additional HW. He wasn't particulalry impressive as a character but Frenzy + additional handweapon + Runefang made him very nasty in limited combats. With the 6th Edition Leitdorf was killed off
Marisu Leitdorf is a "dead" character, but if you start an Empire army of Averland (lots of Greatswords, Lumpin Croots Halfling bowmen and fewer cavalry by the way) then he would be a very good leader. I would play house rules for him until official rules come out, but he would be equipped with Runefang, full plate, additional hand weapon which he can use with the Runfang (even when mounted) and would be subject to Stupidity and Frenzied...
As I recall, his extra attack from Frenzy is made with his Runefang, whilst his AHW is just another S4 attack.
