Hi all thought would finaly register, as i'm now playing again after an 11yr break, as my kids dragged me back into the game
Not wanting to just play my old dwarf army again (even if it is 3k+ points of all metal unpainted troops) as I wanted to have a game that wasn't only a shoot phase My wife and kids, just handed me an early fathers day gift..
10x archers (with 10 more lupins archers on order, as they know I hate to paint same units twice)
20x great swords
10x pistoliers (so i can do 5 as outriders)
20x state troop
10x rifles (will also paint up 10 of my dwarves as old imperiel dwarves)
empiire general box
2x warrior priests
so looks like a very nice start to my new empire army, don't need cannon as I have few dwarven ones who I will also paint up as imperial dwarves
looks like games may be tad rough though, as wife bought herself warriors of chaos (she couldn't resist a slaanesh army) and mate plays vamps, even my kids got ogres so going face tons of hard hiting fear armys..

Happy Father's Day indeed.
I wish my wife could stand to hear me talk about warhammer, let alone play it.

looks like a great start. I'd hold on to some of those dwarven cannons because Empire without great cannons, just doesn't feel right. Even if you make them Dogs of War cannons on loan or something. Sounds like you've got a lot of gluing and basing to do. Have fun!
i actually prefer mortars to cannons.
this is mainly due to the fact that i always over shoot with cannons and that,if you guess right, it is hard to miss with a mortar.
but it realy does depend on what army ou are playing against.
