Is it possible to have a competitive army without any Wizards? Is a solitary Warrior Priest enough?
I'm tempted by a Wizard for my Talabecland army but I like the Lore Of Shadows and the colour schemes wouldn't work so I'm looking for excuses not to take one. I'm very impratical, I know.
Does anyone have any advice?
What size of battles are we talking here? For a 1000 points army it should suffice (unless you opponent focuses on wizards, but civen their points costs he won't have too much else)
At 2000 Points it would be a bit scarce, I'd suggest 4 dispel dice in that case (either 2 priests or one Archlector, your choice), maybe supporting your most important unit(s) with magic resitance, if possible.
And against some armies your magic defense would fail regardless (14+ PD at 2000 points is hard to counter)
It ain't easy bein' green... :-)
In, say, a 2000pt game.
I would take a level 1 scroll caddy.
As to the colorscheme, why don't you make a wizard in slightly tattered robes and paint the ribbons on the wizard in the talabecland two-color? That way you'd have a grey/black wizard with a little detailing showing his current allegiance.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
Voor alle nederlanders:
The Dutch Legion
In terms of the viability, I would NEVER go into a 2000 point battle with no scrolls, which means I'd always take at least one level one. You just risk too much going to a single "Spirit of the Forge" or "Infernal Gateway"
Current painting project: 2300 pts of Dwarfs in 5 weeks.
That's not a bad idea Zema. I did toy with the idea of trying to paint a kind of 'faded' yellow/red scheme. Obviously a Bright Wizard would make more sense to paint, but I like the Lore Of Shadows too much. That's IF I take a Wizard
if you go up against a magic-strong army, you are probably not going to do very well. Vs Dark Elves if he has a SS, you are for all intents and purposes screwed.
Then again, Empire Magic is very average and as such, you almost have to either item a wizard out either to an anti-magic role or to a pro-magic role, neither of which are that good.
