Anyone have any success with Laurels of Victory?
I am building a list around 3 blocks of 25 swordsmen, screened by archer detachments. I am trying to give the blocks viable CR. One will have BSB with Griffon standard. One will have captain with Rod of Command.
In the 3rd I was going to place the War Banner, w/ General carrying Laurels of Victory and Sword of Power. If he gets off one kill that is 8 CR if outnumber. Am I dreaming? Are his stats too low to bank on this? Esp for price.
I have a personal fondness for this extremely potent Magic item, excellent for those occasions where you need to win Combat Resolution but don't think you will have much impact against elite units.
I personally find it effective for Vamp Counts, as you just want to get as much CR as possible to score auto wounds. This is one of the few times you can use cavalry against undead blocks, a General of Empire with Warhorse, L of V, lance, shield, FPA and Holy Relic are pretty good. Or a Hammer of Judgement, (Zombies low Toughness, Vampires High Toughness, but no saves if failed)
Also if you want to mount him on a Griffon, give him LoV shield, lance, Gilded Armour, this should allow you to charge headlong into units of skirmishers and not worry about a few attacks back at the end!
Cheese… milk's leap toward immortality
Yeah but why use a general when you can get a grand master? I guess maybe if you want a foot character...

I'm considering Kurt Hellborg in my Empire Army. Good stats, Runefang, Laurels of Victory, and makes a unit of Reiksguard Knights stubborn and immune to psychology. Cheap for what he does.
