I'm talking about the lore of shadows, of course. It occurred to me that you could get away with just about any model to represent a shadowmancer, since they're all about illusions, right? Well, I'm not talking in terms of most people's willingness to tolerate proxies, unpainted models, empty bases, and the like, I'm talking about fairly strict WYSIWYG...except that, of course, with an illusionist, what you see is what you expect to see, reality be damned... I was thinking of using one of the trinkets from the goodie bag at the most recent adepticon, a witch hunter, as a shadow mage. I had wanted to get that model into the fight, but couldn't really decide what to use the model for. It doesn't really look like it's wearing much, if any, armor, though the multiple layers of clothing and heavy coat could conceal a lot, and it's holding a cutlas and a pistol. The pistol made it problematic to have it represent a priest, so I was leaning towards a captain, although a captain with a hand weapon and pistol seems rather a weak setup...but it's perfect for a mage who wants your eyes to see something else entirely! WSY? Could you use a model that doesn't even look like a mage to represent a shadowmancer, provided that it's obviously a character, not some random halberdier model, in a WYSIWYG setting?

Don;t see why not - the Witch Hunter model would be a bit extreme, but a Grey Wizard could be any wandering loner types.. As long as its clear what it is from teh start, I don't see any isues. You could even chop off teh pistol or have it turn into a smoke gun to aid in his illusions and confuddlement..
