Speaking of Steam Tanks, I wonder if the new book will either weaken Steam Tanks or change the fluff to account for the fact that every army fields them right now even though there are supposedly only 8 in the whole Old World. Maybe the engineers finally unlocked the secrets of Leonardo di Miragliano's fantastical contraption and started mass-producing!

I don't need there to be monster cav for Empire, but given the way GW is going I wouldn't be surprised by demigryph riders. I would really prefer a Inner Circle knight statline that would be worth taking. I suppose being monstrous cav would help, needing only 3 to make ranks. Though fixing up knights would probably require a basic rulebook adjustment rather than a statline improvement, since even the best cav in the game is still mediocre in combat resolution.

    Honey badger don't care.

That first thought is more than a bit off. Stanks aren't at all by any stretch of the imagination as commonly fielded as all that! Walters are almost that bad, though.... But if you want the fluff modified to 'cover' that sad fact... Start with the fluff for how Teclis has 643 clones, eh?

I'm in full agreement that the denerfing of knights has to come via the BRB, since it affects all armies.... And if we got a fix that Bretonia didn't...

I wouldn't worry too much about buying things that you won't need (aside from the book itself) because Empire are always going to be lowly humans. The only thing that I could possibly seeing them doing which would screw you up, is nerfing swordsmen to WS3 and making Halberds a special choice, but that's so far out there that there's almost no way I see it happening.

I hope that the army gets a lot more mechanical gear. I'm working my way towards a Steampunk Empire army, using 40k Vostroyans (with a lot of eagles filed off) as handgun regiments, 2 STanks, and Pistoliers and Outriders. The idea is that they're sort of like the 40k AdMech, they're the militant arm of the College of Engineers, tasked with field-testing the weapons and retrieving technology (Empire and other's) from the battlefields.

Good Lord man. That must cost you a fortune. It must also weigh an absolute ton. Sounds good though!!

Aye, I c't see GW messing Empire up or making units redundant. It's not like empire have anything t massively screw with (thinking of the old HoC here). Halberdiers are Men with halberds. swordsmen are men with swords........ all with mediocre stats so they can only really get better............or more expensive in pts.

You wll probably see a few more monsters, some more mechanical stuff and some col oldies pulled back from the past (War Wagon). Either way........ I'm still waiting and paining.

It's actually not that heavy. At the moment there are only 38 Vostroyans gunners in the list, working in 2 units of 19. It's not a gunline, I rank them up and send them into combat because I don't have any other "line" units to take the brunt of the fighting. They hardly make it through a game alive. The Knights are what's been giving me trouble, currently they just have a gear-tooth pattern painted around the horses' barding, and they wear full helmets and carry greatswords (from my 40k GKs) instead of hammers. If I could afford to, I'd stick them all on mechanical steeds. The Pistoliers are mostly all bone-stock because I don't feel like finding something to use for head-swaps on them, and I don't like the idea of the giant "beef-eater" hats on a mounted model.

But staying on topic - I've heard rumors that our "big monster" thing is likely going to be mechanical of some nature. Either an Air-Ship (like the balloon galleons in the 8th ed pics) or one of the giant clockwork shrines that the Flagellants carry around. The guy I was talking to said that the Air Ship might also be a Land ship (more like a tank) but that one, the other, or both, might be upcoming Forgeworld releases.

Sounds good. Every Edition Empire seem to be going more Steam Punk. Stank, Clockwork Horses and lots of art work/fluff showing steam and clockwork powered contraptions.... I just hope they make some more rustic stuff as well. Not all the Empire provinces are rich and right next to Nuln......

Empire with an airship? Possible I suppose, but that would more than likely be Dwarven.
There is already a bunch of evidence that exists that supports Dwarves having airships.

But who knows what things GW will come up with in the future.

And the landship is a forgeworld model. I'm pretty sure I've already seen it on their site.
May the Dragon of Unhappiness never fly up your bottom.

Empires last book was January 2007. Dwarves was December 2005 so the Dwarves have had to wait a whole year longer. You can console yourself with the knowledge tthat, the longer your book takes to be done means that GW has spent more time on it.

The Poor Brets book was released in 2004.

C'mon Borak, lying is a sin.

Anyways, I'm sure that the rumors about the Priests means that there's going to be some fairly rustic stuff, I'm expecting to see some returns from the Ulrican cult, GreatHammers and such perhaps, a separate unit for Knight of the White Wolf, etc. There would be a lot in there for you to snap up.

As for the Air-ship, I don't mean a zeppelin or blimp, but rather the huge flying galleons shown in the 8th ed book. I think it would be neat, but I doubt the rumor, I can't see them making a model that size, and anything smaller wouldn't be complex enough to be believable.
