Just want to know what you suggest from the battalion, swords and shields, halberds or spears?
General consensus is that spears are um not very good. Halberds cost the same points and are better so make a good option. Swordsmen are only one point more expensive but are also a good option.
Basically if you want a unit that isn't going to dish out much damage but is more likely to stay around go for swordsmen. If you want something to kick out damage go for halberds.
Personally if you are using pretty much just the battalion use the knights and greatswords as your hitters and the state troops have as swordsmen to hold the line.
It's up to you but to be effective choose between halberds and swordsmen.
Hope that helps.
That's pretty much the way of it... Although... I wouldn't really characterize halberdiers as "dishing out damage." I like swordsmen for parent regiments and halberdiers for their detachments.
IG since 1999 __ DA since 2002 __ Tau since 2005 __ SoB since 2007
Brets 1997-1999 __ TK since 2009 __ Empire since 2010
And try to have a warrior priest with state troops, they need reroll to hit more than most other armies out there.
I like both options and yes swordsmen are a great hold the line unit more so if you get a character with stubborn in with them.
Hope this tid bit helps mate
