Hey guys. Thought I'd enter the LO competition with this little chap...... Thoughts/Comments/Ideas are welcome
Imperial Year 1113. Ratmen spread disease and plague throughout the empire. Chaos Warbands invade the Empire in the North. Beastmen gather in the Dark woods and in these dark times heroes are made and at no other time has the Empire needed such Great heroes.......... Although not all of them are Great.
The little General - 70pts
The little General is an Upgrade for any unit of Empire Swordsmen, Halberdiers, Spearmen, Crossbows or Hand Gunners. Note: The little General is not a unit champion and does not prevent the unit from taking one.
WS:3, BS:4, Str:2, T3, W2, Init:4, A:2, LD:8
Equipment: Pistol, Sword, Shield, Light armour
Special Rules: Child soldier, Mascot, Destined for Greatness, Immune to Psychology, Stubborn.
Being naught but a child the Little General is more than often over looked on the battlefield or at the very best noted and then ignored. Only the Inglorious or most callous of opponents would stoop to harming a child.
If any model wishes to direct attacks against the Little General in close combat and/or with shooting or single out the little General with Magic they must first fail a LD test. If the model passes it's test then the Hits/Spell is resolved against the unit. Also, the little General can never issue or receive a challenge.
Seeing a mere Child laugh and stand firm in the face of Danger is a great inspiration to the troops around him. Or at least makes them feel inadequate.
Any unit that is 'led' by the Little General counts as being stubborn and Immune to Psychology. In addition, if the Little General is wounded the unit will Hate the enemy Model/unit that caused the wound. If the Little General is slain then the Unit is now subject to the Frenzy and hatred special rules.
Destined for Greatness:
Although not a Great hero yet, fate always seems to have plans.........
The little General automatically passes all Characteristic tests, apart from Leadership tests. In addition the Little General counts as having MR2.
This Character may be used in the Short Story Contest (SSC)
I like it. Don't you already have a converted model for this? I thought I saw him in your entry on the painting competition for swordsmen.
Cheers mate I do have a model for him although I'm going to strip him and give him a better paint job. So, what do you think of the rules? Are some of them over the top?
I thought making the unit Frenzied unbreakable if he died was a bit too much. I figured it was ok though seeing as it's limited to Core units and the enemy doesn't have to attack him. It's not like he's going to kill anything in combat anyway with str2.......
I should throttle you for this...
Good luck though, I really do like this little guy, so I'd like to see him go far. You'll do better in the modelling section than I would, so you can have the little guy. I can't sculpt to save my butt, so I couldn't build a small soldier like you did. Unless I get around to submitting a character of my own, you'll get my vote!
Whoops. should have asked you for permission really lol. Sure you don't mind if I steal him? If you want to do the character it's fine, I have another I'm working on anyway Well, I say working on....... I have the parts for anyway.
Hey, Why don't you use him for the Short story competition? You'll do the little fella more justice in that field than I will.
He might end up in my Short-story, but I have a few other characters in mind. I think I just might have to release a character for multiple armies. I'm thinking a particular witch-hunter, with a fondness for large hammers...
Great idea, Borak. Rules-wise, though - how many points? He doesn't count as a Hero choice, I guess, but is he a character? Well played with the Ld fail to attack him thing. I think, as Hatred grants re-rolls to hit, maybe instead of Unbreakable and Frenzy they would re-roll to wound?
I dig it. He needs a points cost, though. I'd put him in the 70-80 range, given that all of his contributions in combat are defensive and he can't carry fancy magic items and such.

Hmm, Ok well I'll remove the Unbreakable rule. this will give the opponent a reason to try and kill him (to remove stubborn). The Little Generals unit will still be Frenzied with Hatred if he dies and that's enough I suppose!!
I'll make him 70pts.
Anything else? (Changes in first post)
