So I have a tray (for 20mm models) that happens to be perfect for fifteen knights... What do y'all think of a 750 point monstrousity consisting of 14 reiksguard and KH?
I think that, like all "deathstars" it's going to fall the into one-trick-pony category. When it works, it's going to rip straight through your opponent's army, like the twin-tailed comet itself. But if they can counter it... you just lost out on over 25% of your army.
The problem with Cavalry is that you're paying for that movement. Luckily, 8th ed books were designed with this in mind, so our RG aren't that terribly priced, but if we had infantry that could hit equally hard, I'd go that route. I think that Empire is sort of the "anti-deathstar" list. Not that MSU is the way to go with them, but that they become more cost-effective the more you spread your points out.
I'm not disagreeing, LOL. Could be a fun unit, though. Anyway, I'm looking more at three units of staties (2x priest-led swordsmen and GS BSB bus in the middle) abreast with a hurricanum trailing and KF Himself leading a (smaller!) hammer into the flank. Steadfast staties with buffs flowing in from every corner and rerollable LD10 seems pretty nasty...

Yeah, that's almost definitely the way to go with the new Empire - they pay for all of the buffs that they get from being near other units/characters in the army. You want to keep them together and make those bonus-bubbles hit as many units as possible. On their own, Empire units are just as ineffective as ever, but once you've got 2 or 3 buffs piled on top of them, they're downright ridiculous.
Ok since I haven't had the opportunity to buy the new book yet and have only got to glance at one once.... what is KH and the GS ?
