ok as my name suggests i have no idea about anything...
i want to play warhammer now and i was told that empire is a great place to start. so i was thinking if i get that begginer box would it make a good start to my empire army (also i would be able to know how to play)
apart from the army book what should i do?
P.S. Blood angels rule, the anger lets us ignore wounds ...hehehe
get some Empire soldiers and militia boxed sets. don't trust the halbreders, some like them, but they have a lot fewer uses then the swordsmen. militia of anytype can be useful. also, librarium is great, but it's speed of replys to Empire posts can be a bit slow. if ya put warhammer-empire into google(or whatever your search engine), you should get a really nice empire site, and the war room answers pretty much anything you wanna know. anything that requires feed back bring it back here.
you'll need to get the rulebook. get the starter with empire and orcs in it. orcs ya don't want, but they're more or less free so wha'ever. and with miltia, soldiers, and two boxed sets, you should have almost a full army. just grab some characters and specilized troops and you have almost your full army.
as to how warhammer plays, relitive to 40k anyways, expect a lot less jumping around the board generaly forward. you have blocks of nice pretty troops that slowly (4") make thier way forward, winning combat through CR. CR comes from kills, and other things such as +1 for banner, +1 for enemy getting hit in the flank by another of your units. and a lot more is put in phycology. 40k with my friends we forget to even roll for 3/4 the phycology tests. fantasy, it's all about the moral. magic is also more here, you actualy can get blasted apart purly by magic.
i hope thats a good jist to at least help direct your questions, and gl with the army. also, expect to see Empire as the underdog for a lot of things. such as few people respecting Empire as a viable opponent. or on the games workshop site, showing troops that are casted as full models, not with arms, legs, 2 body sections like marines, and below it says "a wide verity of ways to assemble your models".
that's the thing about perfection, it can only get worse.
Knights are an awsome addition to any empire army, also be sure to read about detachments they are a good tactic to master.
