I'm going to be playing a 2000 point battle and this is what I have to work with...I'm going to be facing Archaons horde in a scenario I'd like to call "Halting the tide". So basically he has 4000 points and I rest assure he will field archaon. He has a main body of troops are of Chaos warriors and Marauders of chaos. He has about 8 chaos knights not very much lead by Archaon. He also has a Hellcannon and 2 Sorcerers of chaos. And this is what I have to defend my home...THE EMPIRE! So this is what I have but it isn't in points, but I'd rather have opinions on what to field.
Elector count on Griffin
Elector count on Horse
Wizard if light
Valten on foot(two hammers)
10 Reiksguard knights (mounted)
10 Panther Knights
2 Great Cannon
1 Helblaster Volleygun
1 Old Reliable Steam Tank
This is what I have to work with... Hopefully I can acually win! (don't forget it isn't an army yet, I just need to know what should I use in it! Any,any opinions at all would help alot!

wow so god dam unfair, dont bother playing him with double points you'll get slaughtered hopelessly. just dont bother waste of time. and if you were playing with 2000 points that would be a completely illegal army list... so INSANELY illegal.
ok i'll make it quick and not tell you why (you should know y)
Dont take Either Valtens
Dont take engineer, take wizards
Take handgunners not archers
Take a hellblaster in your steam tank
If your proxying (which i think you are) have 2 steam tanks
Dominate majic on the game board.
Challange Archaon with Karl Franze. make sure you charge and attack first.
Make knights inner circle.
Take Grand Masters to lead knights, not elector counts - lol they suck
WAY too many characters - 14!!!!!
take 1+ more cannons, you'l need them to kill chariots and his hellcannons.
Make sure you remmeber all the rules, that's the most important thing, and get the real karl franze rules, not the superman one were he goes to all 10 stats.
Take Helblaster in your steam tamk, and take a second steam tank!!!!!!
Have the steamtank and Karl franz help eachother.
try to make sure YOU chose the fight, dont let him get too close before you move your tanks and lords and knights, but try to get as many shots with cannons as you can before his units are in combat.
for cannons, remember the important rule, if he does not have 4 rank and file lines, he canot Look Out Sir!
hahaha I''m not using 14 characters! I was just wonder what you should give me. I'm playing a Storm of Chaos scenario called "halting the tide" it is when he has double the points I have. soilders can hold of the marauders
oh and run the chaos scum to the ground with ol' realible steam tank keep in range of ur missle weps so ur saff from bein flanked and stuff

so ahhh i see. most of that advice was if you had a 4k army... about the 2 steam tanks and all. but i see how do you iwin in that game? i presume just hold a while or not get whiped out by turn 6?
One last thing, if he's taking only about 2 wizards like you say, take Karl Franz and 2 mounted wizards, make the wizards run around in circles and make sure you DONT fight close combat with them. make sure their unbarded and remember the rule that if you flee volentarily that you will automatically rally next turn and may move with them. and make sure you set up karl near the slow part of his army and fly behind them and take out his hell cannons. then try archaon.
what you could try also is a warrior preist, you can automatically heal Karl franz after his duel, just make sure he doesn't kill warrior preist, and if karl starts losing wounds. or just take a wizard with lore of light and pray to sigmar you get the right spell.
don't bother with franz, his main strength is the greatswords as core, since youhave so few anyways it won't help you. go with your EC on griffon, as long as he has so lil magic you won't have to worry so much about getting blown up, you might wanna fly him over to the hell cannon before your lines get hit. idealy you take out the cannon, distract some of his army, then get back to your own side. to bad you don't have a pegi-cap'n, that would work wonders.
use the WP and the wiz, maybe foot valten just to fill out your characters.
your prolly gonna have to go with a gunline army.
your gonna wanna try and field most of your core. upgrade your archers to huntsmen and use them to marchblock and genearly distract the incoming horde. with any luck you might even get a round of shoting at the wiz's.
you need your two cannons, the greatswords if you have room.
take the stank and the volly gun.
try to pack yourself into a corner. if you have a hill put your cannons up there, if you have more room then some handgunners with them. put the volly gun along the board edge that the enemy will be coming in from, and it'll keep it clear for a few rounds before it gets swamped. use your stank to be the most annoying hunk of machinery in the world. send it off to march block and sit in the middle of everything. don't expect to really kill much with it, just use it as mobile terrain.
if you can shrink the size of the handgunners into 14, 5, 5 do so. the 5's are detachments. send the 5's farther up, along with the free company, use them to funnle the enemy. have them all pointed intowards eachother, so they'll all be overrun at the same time and run into eachother, getting in eachothers way.
send the knights out to the flanks, same flank. they need to distract like hell, aim for foot troops so they should hopfully be able to run away and regroup.
any clairifications i'll be happy to give, and i hope this all helps.

Yes...aiight the battle is over. It was a draw I massacred his Chaos warriors and Knights. The Helblaster did wonders so did the Stank. Karl lost against Archaon but the Hellcannon he had, attacked him from behind caused alot of panic over his lines. All in all it was great. We had a good time and thanks for the advice. FROM SIGMAR!

ohhh, can you let us know about the franz/archaon fight? Whenever I use franz I usaly do good against archaon.
Supporter in the Eternal War Against.......Nothing!
Karl lost against archaon cause the guy I'd played used 10 attacks and if had roll 1's it did damage. But he roll no one's. So he did alotta damage to Karl.
