Hello i was recently inspired by the article about a zombie raiding party in the wd306.However Icouldnt take painting all that zombie and striking last so with some inspiration i decided to have a go at collecting a pirate empire army.I love the current militia models but I dont think there is a current list for a pirate army.Dont get me wrong I will still have a unit of knights(convert som brettonian scouts)and the pistoliers will be great fun to convert. But the mainstay of he army will be a block of about 40 militia led by a fighting heroand some blocks of about 20.there will also be a few units of 10 handgunners(militia blunderbusses)running around.Of course i will probably have 3 cannons because not only do they fit in with the theme they are brutally effective aswell.A hellblaster or two is a must and i will take a lv 4 and two lv 2s for my oter characters.Id like to know what others think about htis idea.you can contact me at email@example.com.I will post a list when i get the book.
I would also like to add that watching movies such as the pirates of the carribean is a MUST
for anyone considering the same

Hey that sounds like a great idea - make sure you build a boat for them too! XD
But seriously, i say do it. Themed empire armies are ALWAYS entertaining.
i thought the same! but i couldn't be bothered, am just going to (finally) paint my militia as pirates and have done with it

from the Empire army selector:
Ar me hardy
Army: Standard Empire
Units to Consider: State troops, FC, Pistoliers, Cannons, Helblaster
Playing basics: Keep your units on the smaller side, they're all fresh off their ships remember. Take large units of handgunners, maybe a repeater handgun to help clear the enemy ships deck of troops. Lots of small FC units running around rampant. Pistoliers can help avoid flank charges, and the helblaster, or anti-air gun on a ship, will hold a flank or two.

The Sea of Claws lies off the Nordland coast – the only Imperial province to have a direct link with the sea. Because of this, Nordland has been a favoured target of Dark Elf raiders, seeking slaves and other plunder. It is hardly surprising then that Nordlanders reserve a particular hatred for the Druchii.
Nordland is home to part of the Imperial Navy (the remainder docks at Altdorf, reaching the sea via the wide and deep River Reik), and the province has many regiments that are adept at naval operations – the Nordland Mariners are the most famous of these. Finally, Nordland derives a certain degree of influence from its Coastal Road, the preferred route to Marienburg from the cities of the north (a far less hazardous journey than the one through the Drakwald Forest). The road is notorious for its many and extortionate toll gates.
Nordland has long had links with Middenheim: These date from 2368, and the marriage of Brunhilde Todbringer to Baron Ludwig Nikse, Elector of Nordland. More recently, Anika-Elise Nikse was married to Boris Todbringer, and he is said to have never recovered fully after her death (which was under mysterious circumstances, and alleged to have been the work of Chaos Cultists). In the past, the province also had strong links to Marienburg – in fact, the Elector Count still hold the (empty) title of Prince of Marienburg, but is forbidden to enter the city on pain of death.
Nordland’s most famous hero was the Elector Count Enrich Moltke, slayer of Dieter Helsnicht the so-called Doomlord of Middenheim. Moltke ran the necromancer through with his Runefang at the battle of Beeckerhoven; the body was never found, and some claim that the Doomlord haunts the Drakwald Forest to this day.
Nordland makes greater use of artillery than is usual for a northern province – much of this comes from the fleet, re-deployed onto land to support the infantry. As a result, the Cannon and Mortars are typically mounted on four-wheeled naval carriages. The Helblaster Volley Gun is occasionally employed by the navy as anti-flyer defence for the mighty Greatships, but is mounted on a specialised swivelling devise unsuitable for use on land.
The army of Nordland
Elector Count, possibly riding a Griffon
Templar Grandmaster of the Knights of Manann
Wizard Lords and Battle Wizards (especially Grey or Celestial)
Warrior Priest of Sigmar, Ulric or Manann (see the religion section)
Captain, possibly riding a Pegasus
Swordsmen (marines), Spearmen, Halberdiers, Archers, Huntsmen, Free Company, Crossbowmen and Handgunners
Knights of Manann
Knights of the White Wolf
No Helblaster Volley Guns, Steam Tanks or Flagellants
Mercenary Duellists (sailors), Norse Marauders and Dwarfs (Norse Dwarfs)
Long Drong’s Slayer Pirates
Kislev Allies are very appropriate
sorry i have nothing really freash to add, but so many pirate armies have already been made and are currently in use, i can't keep track of what's unknown to someone new, and what's been said the hundreth time. good luck with your army.
that's the thing about perfection, it can only get worse.
Wow that looks like a great army - although i dont like the exclusion of the Helblaster......
Think of it this way - no opponent will hate you because you don't have a Volley Gun, whilst some may hate you for taking one (And most certainly will hate you for taking two)
Use Light, Beasts, Metal instead of Heavens
NecroLords: Use at least one Death Mage
Brets: Use Peasants&Damsels
Skaven: Don't use Skryre SAD
it's a pirate list, i'm sure you'll be forgiven. the amusement of the skull and cross bones as a banner should outdo the irratation at seeing a volley gun (this may back-fire if you reveal your skull and cross bones to be the griff banner).
that's the thing about perfection, it can only get worse.
Yeah that'd be a bit off.........
