I'm thinking about starting WH Fantasy with an Empire Army.
Are the models in the Warhammer Box Set (With the Rule Book, Empire models, and Orc models) the same as the models you'd buy normally?
I ask because I know that the Battle for Macragge set for 40K uses more basic models than the actual Marine and Tyranid models.
The WH Box Set seems like a steal. It has less empire models than the Empire Box Set, but it has the rulebook and extras (which makes up for the difference, add it up) AND it has the orcs too. Am I missing something, or is this the way to go?
The Empire troops in the FB boxed set are two part models (three four spears - Shield), the spears and handguns glue on and that's it. The cannon/mortar and the hero (foot of mounted) are the two mulitpart/posible ones in it.
The Battatlion houses the full normal types, as in multipart and posible versions.
Truthally i'd get the main game cause if your only just starting, you'll need to learn the rules and it gives you all the stuff you'll ever need then perhaps get the battlion box if your staying as empire and also the WHF box set is the only way to properly get a unit of spearmen as well.
Good luck with starting empire, they are a great army just abit weak in combat.
FOR THE EMPIRE!
(ahem, sorry about that i just couldnt keep it in anylonger)
I would prefer th battlion, because the models are more poseable. But for a beginner like yourself the box set is great. You could just give the orcs to a friend (or keep them yourself) and just start off playing small games....Good luck.
By day he fought with sword and shield.....
By night he fought with pen and parchment.....
He was....The Warrior Poet.......
Fear the ANZAC Clan!!!!!
ORDER OF THE SHADOWY FLAME!!!
Do you have uber micro...????
I prefer the beginner box set because I have both a Empire and Orc army and the book is good (all you get extra in the battilon is knights that you can buy for £20 (GBP) anyway)
I collect orcs and me + my empire mate both bought the boxset and then swapped the armies. This way we both got the rulebook, extras, and LOADS of troops.
