I am wanting to model an Empire Captain model on foot, and I was wondering what approaches other people have taken.
I have looked through the forum, but not found anything. And the gallery seems to be empty.
I have done a few weapon-swaps on my champions (Giving them the same weapon as their regiment), but nothing too major, so if you could give me any advice on converting empire, I would be grateful for it.
Also, can anyone give me any ideas as to equipping him?

Until I know my playing style and what I want my army to look like I was advised by an experienced (Golden Demon winner) to:
Use the "general" from the boxed set and make one mounted and one on foot....one mounted with a hammer (spare bitz) and a sheathed sword and the other on foot with sword and shield.
I can give the mounted "captain" or "general" either a magic sword or a hammer and the foot person can be a sergeant, captain, or general depending on how I organize my army.
The mounted one is now my general and the one on foot is my sergeant in my spear armed regiment....at least for now.
They are generically armed so they are not too specialized and both could be stuck into other organizations or used as champions in a larger force etc.....
edited for clarification and spelling

Unfortunately I used the command sprue from the boxed set to give my spearmen a full command, so I can't do that.
I was thinking maybe I could use the guy from the elector count on griffon model, and use a pin and/or magnet to stick him on, so I can have him on a horse or the griffon, has anyone else done anything similar?
I just searched the online store, and it doesn't seem to be listed. Did they withdraw it from sale for some reason?
The parts are listed individually, but not as a set? And all the components put together are £4 less than the set used to cost, am I missing something?
I think you're on the right track.Originally Posted by Melkor

That would be an awesome champion/lord.....and easy to model with a magnet in his tail end and the saddles for easy swaps.
I bought the battalion box today to fill out my core and knights and reading this gave me an idea.....
my elector will now be one of the knights that looks pretty close to the individual model of the Middenheim elector count on the GW website. I'll put on the same shield and a lance/banner so he can tote the griffon banner as needed.
A dirt cheap elector general and I'll check out bitz to buy a griffon and go that way so he can have either mount.
I prefer plastic to metal when possible for mods and painting anyway...
I just went to the GW website
Search the on-line store for warhammer "griffon" and you will find item # 99110202130
classic elector count on griffon for $40 or the bitz are shown as purchasable if you want to just buy the griffon.....

the griffon mounted elector was removed from sale during the storm of chaos to be replased by the rerelease of karl on deathclaw.
many people use the counts champ (greatsword leader) for there elctor.
my faveorite combo is the armour of meteoric iron and great weapon, very nice!:w00t:
Shame, I thought that griffon was far superior to the old style ones.
At least I'll be able to mail-order it, and cheaper too
Erm, not cheaper... slightly more, I neglected to include the wings in my calculations. How stupid can you get

Nice ideas for captains but i cant find the griffon's wings just the body and head. Also for a captain on foot the old Reiksguard Captain is a good model i think
Don't ask u have no idea

is a link to a 'composite item' containing all the neccessary parts. Although unless you want some extra bits its probably better to just buy the sword or the hammer, depending on how you are going to equip him.
