The two versions of Valten that can be used in a 2000 army(champion and chosen; fyi not exalted ): Worth it? I realize that the Valten characters can do some major damage to the enemy army, but are they worth their points in a 2000 pt army or can those points be better invested in some other unit/character? Ive found that sometimes he and his unit are completely avoided or that his unit is the target of enemy fire/magic/archaons, but if he ever does get into close combat he is a force of his own. i just wanna know what u guys think about the two younger versions of valten.
The one on foot is very good, as he's cheap, but after that they get too expensive.Originally Posted by bulletcatcher
Get him stuck in and he'll do fine.
Well the one on foot has great stats and has an extra attack. The one one horseback is more than double the points, has fullplate armour and the Ghal Maraz. The Champion of Sigmar is great with swordmen, and Chosen of Sigmar is great with calvary.
However if you are planning to use one of the Valtens in a 2000pt battle, I would highly recommend Valten on foot. He takes up about 1/10 of you're points and can turn the tides of battles. If you got the Valten on horse back I would recommened for something higher like 2,500 to 3,000pt battles.
If you have the units to spent it on something else, go ahead. You should really expierence if for you're self.
The problem with foot is he can't be everywhere at once...
You shouldn't count on one hero to win you all you're battles that why you got to plan ahead. If you wanted him to be everywhere you'd have to choose the Chosen of Sigmar (the one on horseback) and he would take up lots of points.Originally Posted by Cairocopter
The Valten on foots main job is it help its unit it is with to fight larger, more powerful enemies and hopefully even the closecombat battle out. However try not to think Valten is invincible (but I have seen him take a direct hit with a helcannon shell and survived  )
I've found that he's quite good in defensive armies as you can fire and force the enemy to advance and then mash them with a main combat unit with him in it.Originally Posted by Magic69
What unit do you put him with? Maybe I could try it out! Because I only need him when I know that there will be some heavy combat going on.Originally Posted by Cairocopter
Only a huge free company/halberdier regimentOriginally Posted by Magic69
Its quite effective if you hold up the enemy with him then get a flank charge with a detachment...
Free Companies and Halberdier make better detachments. I think you will that you're close combat results will be much better with Swordsmen or Spearmen. Slap Valten in one of those, and tell me what you think the next time you battle.Originally Posted by Cairocopter
