    New to Empire

to start off im a 4yr vet to dark elves, and im looking for alittle change. I was deciding between empire and brettonians and saw that empire fielded large blocks of organized troops, where as brets had crappy peasants and small formations as knights, so i choose empire.

    I got some questions,
    1. Does the state troops box coe with only 19 guys or is this a typo, and if its not, can i please say wtf.
    2. Whats the most effective state troop config with detachments
    3. Are crossbowmen a good substitute for handgunners
    4. and does the hellblaster last longer than 2 turn rounds without an engineer

Im looking forward to playing this army and would like some feedback on my questions
and maybe some helpful vet empire tips. thanks

1.No typos here, GW likes to give you the big one
2.I personally like Swordsman with 2 Halberd detachments or Handgunners with Handgunners
3.No they are most certainly not
4.The Eng. cand be with the hellblaster, but it really depends on multiple factors

heres a tip, to get sweet halberds, if u get a swordsman/halberdiers box, make swordsman but replace the tips on your spearmen models with halberd heads.

if you are concerned about saves of rank and file troops, empire is the wring place to look, but the reason halberds are great is that, as detachments, they always strile first. Which is why offensive capabilities is key for detachments and defensive capabilities for the parent unit(swordsman).

My favourite detachment combo is a big unit of Spearmen flanked by Handgunners on one side and Free Company on the other.

    Skaven 8/6/3
    Lizardmen 5/4/2

    Wood Elves 2/0/1
    Bretonnians 0/2/1
