Hi, i've been playing 40k for a year now and have decided to start a nice balanced empire army.
I've been wondering if i'm allowed to invent my own elector count? I found the 12 states in the army book but couldn't find any mention of their respective counts. Did they leave this out so I could make my own? I have some pretty cool fluff in mind for Guy Du Marque.
Also are there any tricks about empire I should know? any useless units? any that are considered cheesy? I heard crossbows are nothing compared to handguns.
PS: there are far to few threads in this forum. Up in 40k theres 5 a day. We gotta liven this forum up people.

The Elector Count entry can easily be used to represent a major noble. Just don't give him a Runefang.
Use Light, Beasts, Metal instead of Heavens
NecroLords: Use at least one Death Mage
Brets: Use Peasants&Damsels
Skaven: Don't use Skryre SAD
heres some badass elector counts http://uk.games-workshop.com/empire/characters/1/
but the Reichsmarshal is my fav
"Crescit in adversis virtus" (Virtue is Born in Hardship)
"Cheese is the cry of the weak"
You are; Empire (truly)
You are 63% Honorable, 47% Bloodthirsty, 37% Magic-minded, and 85% tactically-oriented!
ok so can I invent my own elector count? if so which territory would he come from?
If not hes just going to have to be some major noble. Whats the hierarchy in the empire? I think Duke comes next so I can invent one of them.
well you don't always have to go by the storyline, thats why the general elector count choice is there. However....personally i'm too much of a neat freak to not give him a real elector count's name hehe :shifty:
Not exactly true. The extra range of the crossbows catches my opponent out every time, although nothing beats a solid units of Handgunners when they're within range.I heard crossbows are nothing compared to handguns.
I'm sure that you could create a new rank, with similar stats and rules to the Elector Count, as long as you have your opponent's permission to use him.
As for which territory to chose, that's up to you. If you're really stuck, take the map of the Empire, close your eyes, and choose one at random.
elector counts may be the 12 rulers of the state, but the profile for him indicates that an elector count could easily be a powerful lord or ruler of a city, not a state. i personally use him as a character of my own invention and i have some fluff to go with it.
EDIT: as teron said don't buy him a runefang not only as its not only un-fluffy but its a waste of points. i mean really, 100 points for 3 attacks with the attributes a runefang gives you (all hits wound automatically, no armour saves allowed) especially since you only have WS 5.
